MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD
November 27, 1945
Present
Messrs. Houdlette, Worthen, Nickerson, Ferguson, Richards
and Cromwell.
The Board approved a bill for $1.98 for blue -prints on
parking lots which had been paid by Mr. Worthen.
James Carrig
Mr. Carrig and his surveyor, Fred A. Joyce, met with
the Planning Board to discuss the plan of subdivision on the area
between Spring Street and the Concord Turnpike. Neither Mr. Carrig
nor Mr. Joyce had apparently seen o-jr comments on the existing
plan of subdivision noted in earlier minutes. We went over the
conclusion set forth in the previous minutes with Mr. Carrig
and Mr. Joyce. Mr. Carrig felt it was vital that there be an
entrance onto the Turnpike but he and Mr. Joyce agreed to revise
the street layout so that there would be no direct route through
the property from Spring Street to the Turnpike. It was concluded
by both parties that a road parallel to the Turnpike as suggested
by the Planning Board would not be desirable.
' Mr. Joyce agreed to extend the lots adjoining the Turnpike
so as to include the area formerly allocated to the protective
strip on his plan. He also agreed to restrict the lots adjoining
the Turnpike to prevent driveways from such lots entering on the
Turnpike. He said he would be willing to build a fence at the
edge of his subdivision adjoining the Turnpike.
He agreed to submit a new plan involving fewer straight and
more curvedstreets. As soon as Mr. Joyce has prepared such a
plan it was agreed that the Planning Board would call a+meeting on
three or four days notice to consider the revised plan.
Mr. Carrig left the present plan with the Planning Board.
No action is required until we hear from Mr. Carrig.
Hugh A. Stubbins, Jr.
In a letter dated November 21, Hugh A. Stubbins, Jr. asked
for an appointment with the Board for a preliminary discussion with
regard to a subdivision on 10.09 acres on Pleasant Street. It was
decided to write Mr. Stubbins inviting him to meet with the Board at
8:15 P. M. on December 11.
Parking Lots
' There was not sufficient time to permit more than a brief
discussion of the parking problem.
Adjourned until 8:00 P.M., December 11, 1945.
Respectf o y aub ,
