MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD
June 25, 1945
Present
Messrs. Houdlette, Richards, Worthen, Ferguson and
Cromwell.
Questions briefly discussed and, which will arise in the
future, rsl.ate- tot;an airfield in the town for private use and a
war memorial.
Regarding the latter, it was the concensus of the meeting
that a war memorial should be useful as opposed to merely monumental.
It was suggested that instead of erecting a structure specifically
for the purpose of being a war memorial, it might be better to
dedicate some project to this purpose that is already" "planned, such
as a library or a civic building.
Building and Zoning Bylaws
The Planning Board had recommended to the Selectmen
at the last join# meeting that the zoning and building bylaws be
studied to see if they could be improved in view of prospective
building in the town. It had also recommended that the town
employ a full-time inspector or inspectors.
Mr. Worthen brought to the meeting a letter from the
Selectmen asking the Planning Board to investigate the building
and zoning bylaws in line with the Planning Board's recommendation.
Inasmuch as this work will take considerable time, it was decided
that the Planning Board sh.buld recommend immediately to the
Selectmen that a full-time building inspector be employed. It
is planned that this will be done as soon as necessary information
can be gathered.
Mr. Richards pointed out that already there are indications
of some 20 or 30 new homes already being planned in the to . in the
low -price range. It was felt it would be desirable to combine
building, plumbing, and wiring inspection in one man if possible.
Mr. Richards and Mr. Cromwell are to draft a letter to
the Selectmen relating to the above.
Meeting adjourned until July 9.
Resp etful y ,-u ted,
Clerk
f
r
1
J
D
