Worthen, Houdlette, Richards, Nickerson, Ferguson <br />and Cromwell, <br />Rapid Transit <br />The Board considered the rapid transit problem and con- <br />cluded in various points: (1) The Board favors extension of <br />raid transit to Lexington: (2) It does not f avor recommending <br />opposition to passage of the act creating a rapid transit authority: <br />(3) The plan of rapid transit prepared by the Legislative Committee <br />has important shortcomings as far as Lexington is concerned: <br />(4) Efforts should be made to enforce more strictly the zoning and <br />building by-laws, <br />Mr. Houdlette brought a map to the meeting on which he <br />had indicated a possible route for the rapid transit line via <br />Somerville Junction. The Board after considering this map and <br />Mr. Houdlette's remarks concluded that the Somerville Junction <br />route deserved further consideration. <br />The Board considered a plan prepared by Mr. Blackwell <br />for modifying the plan of the Legislative Committee and concluded <br />that it deserved further consideration. <br />Mr. Cromwell was asked to summarize the Board's v;Uaww- <br />point in a report to be given the Selectmen on May 25. <br />Adjourned until May 25j, 1945. <br />Respectfullyyssubmitted, <br />Clerk <br />
