PLANNING BOARD MEETING
1 October 6, 1938.
All members present.
It was moved and seconded that the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting be adopted as read, and the motion carried.
Mr. Greeley reported communications with neighboring
planning boards regarding the advisability of employing
jointly a planning expert to assist in general comprehensive
layouts for future developments and utilities, having in mind Mr.
the sort of work Mr. Richard L. Steiner did for us this Steiner
summer. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Richard
L. Steiner, 646 Assylum Road, Hartford, Conn., thanking him
for his intelligent work this summer in connection with out
future problems of layouts.
Mr. Greeley reported conversation with Mr. Hultman and
his staff regarding making a lake of Lexington Meadows. Mr. Lexington
Hultman advised collaboration with Senator Cotton toward Meadows
presentation of a bill to the next legislature, ihich bill
he would favor. It was moved and seconded that the Chairman
appoint a committee to approach Senator Cotton with the idea
of promulgating a bill for making a lake of Lexington Meadows,
' this bill to be presented to the next legislature. The motion
was carried unanimously. Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Kraetzer were
appointed, Mr. Ferguson being Chairman.
The idea of a compulsory bond being required for drain-
age of future development layouts under Chapter 211 was dis- Chap.211
cussed and the Board felt informally that some compulsory
guarantee should be required, but felt that more legal advice
was needed before the form of guarantee should be incorpor-
ated in our building code. In this connection, the State
Planning Board had advised that they favor compulsory guarantees.
Sign sizes were discussed but no definite decision was
reached, so the Board will report to the committee on revision Buildin@
of the building code after more consideration. Code
The next meeting is to be joint with the building code
revision committee, this to be arranged and date determined
later. The Clerk will notify members.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
Respectfully \\submitted..
' Clerk.
