PLANNING BOARD MEETING
May 4, 1937
' Present:- Messrs. Borden, Ellis, Ferguson, Kraetzer, Nickerson
and Kimball.
Definite action on the Town Meeting Map and the Zoning
By -Law reprint is held in abeyance awaiting the revised Town Maps
Map. Mr. Cosgrove reports that he expects to have the 8001
scale map completed by July 1st.
Consideration was again directed to the subject of lot
area and frontages and it was decided to invite a number of Lot Area
property owners to meet with the Board for the purpose of ob- &
taining the general reaction and if it appears advisable, to Frontage
form a committee at this meeting for the purpose of carrying
through an active campaign with a definite recommendation for
the March, 1938, Town Meeting.
A discussion of the advisability of discontinuing manu-
facturing districts in Lexington resulted in the general be-
lief that while there has been no need for such provisions
since our by-laws were drawn, the Board will be in a stronger
position to resist possible invasion in other parts of the Manu -
Town, if there is at least one such district available. It factoring
was pointed out that the M.1 District in East Lexington con-
tained quite a fair residential development and that as a Zones
protection to the property owners the classification should
be changed to a residential zone. It was decided to instigate
the change through suggestion to some of the owners. The
North Lexington District is not suitable for residential use
and will be left as at present.
Mr. Borden informed the Board that he expected to move
to Winchester around July lst and that his connection as a
Board member would therefore be automatically severed.
The Board expressed its regret at losing Mr. Borden Membership
and voted to ask Ivir. 117. R. Greeley to become a candidate
for appointment to fill the vacancy until the next annual
election.
5/5/37 - Note:- Mr. Greeley signified his agreement to the
use of his name.
The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P. M. until Wednesday
May 19th at 8:00 P . M.
Respectfully submitted,
Clerk
