PLANNING BOARD MEETING
January 21, 1937
' Present:- Messrs. Borden, Ellis, Ferguson, Nickerson and Kimball.
Mr. Borden reported conversation with Mr. Knecht announc-
ing the organization of the West Lexington Improvement Society
with an expected membership of around two hundred. The purpose
of the society is to interest the citizens in that section of
the Town in the proper control and development of the neighbor-
hood as well as in general planning and Town government. West
Arrangements will be made for a meeting of representatives of Lexing-
the Planning Board and the Board of Directors to discuss matters ton
of mutual planning interest. A publicity release on the subject Improve -
of lot areas and frontages was discussed by the Board and a copy went
turned over to Mr. Knecht for publication over the signature of Society
an Improvement Society member.
Mr. T. A, Custance appeared before the Board (upon his re-
quest) to discuss the establishment of a street between Waltham
Street and Muzzey Street. His plan is similar to that studied
by the Board last June except that it takes in the Leary, Blake
and Rose properties instead of the Clow, Blake and Earle prop-
erties. His particular interest at this time is due to the
fact that Mrs. Leary and the Blake Estate wish to dispose of Waltham -
their property and he feels that this property can be obtained Clark Sts.
' at assessment valuations. He does not consider it advisable
to bring the subject before the March Town Meeting. The Board
agrees%to the latter thought and advised that it was their
thought that any direct action should come from outside.
Mr. Custance was informed that the Board would reopen
the sucject and advise him of what recommendation they would
be willing to make and suggested that he could then follow
the matter with the Board of Trade or as he saw fit.
The annual report was reviewed, corrected and signed.
Drafts of amendments covering the rewording of the original
Ethel Bean amendment to conform with other similar items in the
Zoning By -Law and those covering the changes of the two 0.1
Districts .on Concord Turnpike into T.1 Districts were reviewed,
discussed and a date for hearings set for Friday, February 19th
at 8:00 P. M. In connection with this, letters were drafted to
Mr. Childs and Mr. Peterson notifying them of the proposed By -Laws
action.
Notices of the hearings are to be mailed from the same
list as used in the original Childs and Peterson petitions
and a notice with an explanatory letter is to be sent Ethel
Bean.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 P. M. until January
26th at 7:30 P. M.
Respectfully submitted,
Clerk
