u
1
1
PLANNING BOARD MEETING
November 9, 1936
Present:- Messrs.'Borden, Ellis, Ferguson, Nickerson and
Kimball,
The final draft of amendments to the Zoning By -Law were Through -
approved and the date for hearing set as December 1, 1936 at way
8:00 P. M, Property owners adjacent to the Turnpike will be Zone
notified by mail.
Mrs, Regan appeared before the Board seeking information
regarding the proposed Hancook Street- Merriam Street connection.
Mr, Borden explained that this was part of the overall layout
of this block for future development and that no inadequate
construction was contemplated at this time. He stated that
the Board had the opening up of her property in mind'and felt
that she would otherwise have an unsaleable back lot. She
stated that her real estate man had told her that her property
contained three lots. It was pointed out that the former
plan had located a street entirely on the railroad property
and that the present Board did not agree with the old plan,
She should net as much return from the sale of two larger lots
as from three smaller ones. The total footage is the same
In either case. She wished to talk with her agent before
committing herself.
The Planning Board attended the Board of Survey Hearing
on Mr, Merriamts development. Mr. Merriam asked to have the
name 'of Blake Road changed to Patriots Drive in view of the
historical background of the locality.. Mr. Downs continued
his opposition to the existing location of Blake Road and
was advised to petition for a relocation which he agreed to
do. Mr. Borden presented a rough draft of the layout as
suggested by the Planning Board and explained the Board's
attitude'(see former reports),
Mr. Charles Ferguson suggested that the Planning Board
initiate a Board of Survey street between Merriam Street
and Hancock Street. The suggestion was accepted and will be
acted upon,
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 P. M,
Respectfully submitted,
Clerk
Goodwin
Develop-
ment
