PLANNING. BOARD MEETING
November 5, 1936
' Present:- Messrs. -Borden, Ellis, Ferguson, Nickerson and
Kimball.
By invitationf- Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Dreselly and Mr.
R. C. Merriam.
Mr. Dreselly and Mr. Merriam Wt (by invitation) with
the Board and accepted, in principle, Mr. Borden's suggestion
that Mr. Merriam deed to Mr. Dreselly a tract of land to pro-
vide a 75 foot frontage in the proposed street in return for
deed from Mr. Dreselly for a part of his land, the details
to be worked out mutually.
The layout of a street connecting Merriam Street and
Hancock Street and its intersection with Mr.'Merriam's
proposed road was discussed with Mr. Merriam. The Board is
of the opinion that provision for such a street should be
made and agrees that it is entirely reasonable to expect
that at least part of the way should lay in what is now the
property of the Boston & Maine Railroad. The Board favors
a street intersecting Merriam Street with the center line
in the boundary of the Goodwin -Railroad property, continuing
in a northwesterly direction to intersect with the present
northerly boundary of Goodwin Roadp the entrance of the
road on the Goodwin estate being moved northwesterly from
the point now shown on the Kellaway plan.
Mr. Merriam will -contact the Railroad officials to
obtain their reactions.
Note:- Mr. Merriam reports that he is advised by the
Railroad company that the Department of Public
Utilities will not permit the company to give land
for street purposes. The Town will have to take
by Eminent DoVain.
The meeting adJourned at 94*10 P.
