PLAT71ING BOARL LEETIEG
i'ovember 4, 1936
' Present:- :iessrs. 3orden, 311is, Ferguson, Nic'erson & Kimball.
A draft of a revised Section l of the Zoning By -Law to-
fr,ether I-ith chanfTes and addi_ti_ons to provide for a new through -
zone (T.1) and a simplification in numbering was discussed.
Section 1 has been rewritten by Town Counsel 77rightington
to brine the Zoning By-Lal•s into harmony,* with Legislative
c'-_an,aes made since the adontion of our present 3y-Lav=t. ;r.
".Vri.^1tirr-ton T7_11 present the arguments for this change.
The changes arr? ac?di tions covering: the proposed T.l
7_one are intended to nrovide a district limiting the uses
therein to the onerations of a normal fillln; station and to
provIcle for the location of such zones adjacent only to through
!'ta':"S S:Erilar to t -t _ )res,r,.t '.;oncor( Turnpike.
T,e sirM-If 1cat! on in numbering is made to provide a
pore orderly means of identifying such additions as may be
r!ac?e from tir;e to tin- under Section 3.
The ?ra='ts were arrested. for tq ograp_lical set up,
cL scussi.on ce t -_T ins; around the terminology of location.
Since t' -A s zone is to _provide for the contingencies of a fast
moving through way, it is (9 --sired to limit its location to
the Concord Turnpike and such other similar ways as may be
laid down, and it !vas finally agreed that the word "Through-
' ,,iay" with a proper definition was the most satisfactory solu-
tion. An attempt is to be made to obtain such a definition
from Yr. Hartman.
i.r. 1,.erriam's plans for the develop -lent of the Goodwin
estate were considered, The 3oard is of the opinion that a
pr•orer la -Tout of this area should !ri.thout doubt provide for
a connect no, street between t1ancoclr Street and 1,11erriam Street,
a1_t'-iou-h it is not felt that the innnediate needs require its
construction throughout at this time.
The general plans for a street having access to i:erriam
Street through the above street and to Edgewood Road through
Blare Road wire considered.
1'.jhile a. controvers-- has arisen over the property lines
and_ the Board of Surve-r layout at the intersections of Edge -
wood hoad and Blaze Road, the Planning board believes that
the ultimate la -rout should include a street from this general
location throufrh the GoodwS_n property to the Hancock-Yerriam
Street connection.
The 3oard conc"r_rs with the general rellaway plan but
reco nines the unfortunate results to I,;ir. Lresellyls property
U_rouErh the abandonre.nt of the or!' final layout. An attempt
,ill be r'!a(- to 1,atr L.r. I'resgll-, and i. "r. ilerriam meet, with
th Board in an effort to iron out this point.
The meetinrr ad.iolarned at 11:10 P. 1
Respectfully submitted,
clerk
By -Law
General
Through-
way
zone
Goodwin
Develop-
me
evelop-
me nt
