PLAN'?ING BO AAD MEETING April 249 1935 A regular meting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference Room of the Town Office Building on Wednesday, April 2411 1935, at 8:00 P. Y. 1rIessrs. Luffy, Ellis, Kimball, Robinson, Sellars and Greeley were present. The minutes of the April 3rd meeting were read and approved. The question of the proposed parking census in the center of the Town was brought up, and L7 r. Kimball explained how the census had been talten in 1927, and how it compared with a rough count he made on Saturday noon, April 6, 1935. 11iessrs. hobinson and Duffy questioned whether a parking problem really existed, but it was pointed out that, as a challenge had been made to the Board, the safest thing to do was to try to ascertain by actual count whether a problem existed. Ilr. Iimball suggested that further details in regard to the proposed census should be sent to the Board of Selectmen so that they could discuss the matter with the ERA Administra- Parking tor. 1;r. DuffTr talked with Mr. Ferguson over the telephone, and was informed that the Selectmen would like more detailed information, but that they had not had any official complaints in regard to the lack of parking facilities. A tentative schedule and_ tally sheet had been worked out b 11r. Ki nball, and it was voted that the Clerk should send conies of these, as changed, and an explanation of them to the Board of Selectmen. %r. Duffy reported that lie had talked with Iviessrs. Water - Ferguson and Preston in regard to Watertown Street, and had town learned that the State was working on a further compromise Street route, following approximately along the southwestern boundary of the Norton property. Lir. I:imball reported that Mr. Garrity had spoken to him about the work on Bowman Park, and had asked the Planning Board to offer suggestions as to what should be done. It was voted Parks that l.r. Robinson view the situation and make such recommenda- tions as he saw fit to Mr. Garrity. Further discussion of the condition of the Town's park areas brought out the point that there seemed to be no com- prehensive plan for their development, and that some sort of professional service should be secured for the landscaping of the Town's parks. Messrs. Robinson and Greeley were asked to look into the matter further. Mr. Duffy brought up the question of zoning against loam and gravel excavations for business purposes, but the discussion was postponed to a later meeting. Top Soil Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P. M.
