PLANNING BOARD MEETING January 16,1935 A regular meeting of the Planning Board was hold in the Town Office Building on Wednesday evening, January 161, 1935, at 8:00 P. M, Messrs. Duffy, Ellis, Greeley, Kimball, and Robinson were present. The minutes of the January 9th meeting were read and approved. The Town Treasurer's Balance Sheet for Planning Board Expenditures for 1934 was approved, and the estimate for 1935 was drawn up and passed. The sum asked for was 4200.00. Mr. Duffy reported that the Selectmen of Lexington were apparently in favor of the Regional Board's Bill, two or three of them having expressed a desire'that there should be little or no business on the New Highway. After discussion of the Bill, Mr. Duffy suggested that Mr. Cosgrove be asked to prepare a strip map of the new high- way, in order to facilitate and encourage desirable develop- ment, rather than to try to discourage undesirable develop- ment by means of action of the By -Laws. The Planning Board determined that the following area would be affected by fir. Thomas Kelley's proposed change in zoning:- The oning:- The land bordering on both sides of Lowell Street from Woburn Street to North Street, East Street .from Grant Street to the Town line, Laconia Street throughoutq Ridge Road throughout' and all land included in the business sones at the intersections of Lowell Street with Woburn Street and with North Street, The Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Kelley to tbAt effect, and to enclose other information necessary for Mr. Kelleyts petition. Mr. Duffy read a letter from the Secretary of the Reading Planning Board inviting Lexington to be represented at a joint meeting in Reading on January 21, 1935, to discuss the layout of proposed State Highway #128. Mr. Duffy and Mr. Kimball offered to go, weather permitting. Discussion of the possibility of recommending to the Town that part of the property bounded by the New Highway, Watertown Street and the Town Park on Watertown Street re- sulted in the decision that the Board should advise the Board of Selectmen to consider the purchase of part or all of the land bounded as follows: - Beginning at the southeastern corner of the Town Park, T running in an approximately easterly direction, being the direction of the continuation of the southern boundary of Concord Highway Kelley Petition Circum- ferential Highway Watertown Street
