r 1 F PLANNING BOARD'WMTING November 23, 1934 A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference Room of the Town Office Building on Friday, November 230 1934 at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Duffy, Ellis, Greeley, Kimball, and Robinson were present. The petition of Fannie W. Hutchinson for a change in son - Ing from Residential to Business use of the property on the east side of the New Highway, between Watertown Street and the Town Line was read and discussed. It was pointed out that this could not be considered as an official petition inasmuch as it did not contain the signatures of adjoining property owners. The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the petitioner, inform her of the action that has been taken in regard to the other applications for zoning changes along the new highway, and also informing her that if she does insist on a hearing,'the board will describe for her the area they deem to be affected. Mr. Duffy reported that the Regional Board was working on some solution of a legislative nature, and that the Lexington Planning Board should delay action, if possible, until the present work brings some sort of result• Nr. Kimball inquired of Mr. Duffy as to what bad become of the proposed business areas that the several Planning Boards were to have designed. Mr. Duffy explained that in addition to the design submitted by Lexington, designs had been prepared by Arlington and Concord, but that the latter had now become worth- less due to the change in the design of the highway itself. He also explained that very little thought had been given to these designs because so much of the time of the Regional Board had been given to the consideration of legislative possibilities. Hutchinson Petition Concord Highway Discussion of the future treatment of Watertown Street disclosed the opinion of the Board to be' that the street should be straightened in accordance with the plan prepared by Mr. Cosgrove. Consultation with Mr. Trask revealed the fact that both the Town Watertown and State Engineers approved of this plan, but that the County Street Engineers were with -holding their approval. However, Mr. Trask felt that the ultimate layout would be the straight one. In view of the fact that the financial year was drawing to a close, Mr. Duffy suggested that we check up on our supplies of stationery and maps in case new ones were needed. The Clerk was instructed to consult with Miss Maguire and Mr. Cosgrove on these matters. Mr. Duffy intimated that, whereas the Board has never been consulted in regard to the location of new schools, it would be High wise of the Board to consider this matter so that in the future School and probably the near future, it would be prepared to give an opinion.
