PLANNING BOARD MUTING
June 19,1934
A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference
Room of the Town Office Building, Tuesday, June 19, 19349 at 7:30
P. M. Messrs. Duffy, Glynn, Greeley and Kimball were present.
The secretary was also present.
The matter of the Mass. Avenue hearing was discussed, and
Mr. Greeley made the following motion:- "That the Planning Board
approve the adoption of an amendment to the Zoning By -Law by
substituting for Section 3, C.1 Districts, Article 18, the
following: -
"18. Upon the southerly side of Massachusetts Avenue be-
ginning at the westerly line of Wallis Court and extending wester-
ly to a point opposite the easterly line of Mariam Street and of Mass.
a depth of 100 feet from the southerly line of Massachusetts
Avenue, throughout." Avenue
The motion was seconded and it was a unanimous vote. Amendments
Mr, Duffy stated that he felt that the action the Plann-
Ing Board proposes is to protect the heavy investment of the
Town for the common good and there are two reasons to influence
this standing, (1) there is no business in the area in question
and (2) as the Town has more business areas than are necessary
for its size, as statistics of other towns and cities show, the
Board sees no need to continue this area in a business district
and propose to take it out.
Reports on the various amendments were discussed and Mr.
Durfy stated that he would draft the report on the Daniel J.
O'Connell hearing and meet with Mr. Kimball and prepare the
reports on the Mass. ,Avenue hearing.
A complaint was received regarding the Bond Hospital
at 27 Waltham Street and the matter was turned over to the
Building Inspector.
The meeting was adjourned until Thursday, June 21, 19340
at 8:30 P. M.
Respectfully submitted,
' Roland B. Greeley (Signed)
Clerk
