PLANNING BOARD MEETING
February 28, 1933
A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference
Room of the 'Town Office Building, Tuesday, February 28, 1933.
Messrs. Duffy, Glynn and Scheibe were present. The Town Engineer
and secretary were also present.
The Town Engineer reported that in an actual survey of the
Lexington Par'_. development, the profile showed the grade less steep park
than was anticipated, the maximum for a very short distance being
8.3 %.
Mr. Duffy read the petition presented by Mr. Daniel J.
O'Connell signed by the property owners of 50% in valuation and
a letter from the Assdssors' Office certifying that the petition
contained the number of names necessary. It was decided that if
`Mr. O'Connell still wishes to have a hearing, after being asked
by the Board to postpone action at present, a date should be
set. The only thing to do is to let it go before the Town and
when brought up to ask the Town to oppose it at the present time
stating the reasons.
Motion was made and seconded that the date of Friday,
March 17, 1933, be set for the hearing and that notice be pub-
lished two weeks before said date and the same notice be mailed
to property owners in the district designated by the Planning
Board as being affected by the petition. It was so voted, and
a letter was written Ur. O'Connell to this effect.
A letter was read from hr. Edwin B. Worthen of the Lex-
ington Savings Bank in which he asked if his tenant, Charles
Stevens, might use the basement of the property at 1 Webb Street
'mown as the "Cement Block Plant" for laundry purposes, under
the non -conforming use, or if it should be brought before the
Board of Appeals or the Building Inspector. Dir. Scheibe stated
that he had replied to the letter but did not have the copy with
him.
The matter of the multiple dwelling house at the rear
of the Marshall block was discussed. A new set of proposed
amendments drawn up by Dir. Hartman were presented. Mr. Glynn
stated that he would prefer to see the garages in the side lot,
previously occupied by John Rose's stable, rather than have them
back up on kuzzey Street. It was felt that Dir. Hartman thinks
the Planning Board is trying to get a law to fit Mr. Greeley's
matter, but what it rea117 wants is something that will cover
the present situation and also any others that may arise in the
future.
Mr. Duffy informed the Board that Mr. Hartman told him
an amendment had been adopted which provided that Planning Boards
did not necessarily have to hold public hearings for the changing
of zoning laws.
Mr. Glynn stated that he was definitely opposed to this
idea.
It was further stated that the Planning Board would not
sanction putting anything as important as this before the Town
without first inviting the property owners to voice their opinions.
Daniel J.
O'Conne 11
Petition
Edwin B.
Wo r then , re .
Webb St.
Proposed
Amendments
for R.3
District
