PLANI,7ING BOARD;E'ETI1G
June 28, 1932
A meeting; of the Planning Board was held in the Town
Office Building, Tuesday,, June 28, 1932, at 8:00 P. Ivi. Liessrs,
Finery, Scheibe, puffy and Glynn Frere present. The Town Engineer
and secretary 1,rere also Present.
The oirn Fingineer• presented and explained plans of the
i.,rash property and Allen Street development. The matter was
considered and it ;!as decided that now is the time to lay out
-this entire section for future development. Mr. Emery stated that
this is an isolated development and has nothing to do with others
around it, and_ suggested that the Board refuse to accept the layout
until it is carried throwzh to the other three sections. There
Is ) vast area of land that has got to be developed and now is
the time to la ;r out the principal roads.
It w9 s voted to request the Town Engineer to consider
the larger area surrounding the 1,_orash property aad to plot the
best locations for throut-h roads In different directions tying
the properties in ,.rith the best through roads and those about
to be laid down by the State, together with the extension of
the so-called R-*der development. It is also the feeling of the
Board that particular care should be exercised in the development
of the area of the adjoining tracts of the property under con-
sideration and the school house.
r. Cosgrove stated that it would take some tir-e to
do this work as there are about seventy acres in that section.
The plan in mind could be a rough piece of viork that would estab-
lish relations with the principal streets before anyt' ing is done
ori tulle T.loresh pr•opert.
i'ne land o,,nv-r•s on Allen Street anDr•ove the layout but
are not int,_ -rested in the developn_ciit at the present time.
The vrhole ar-_a should be laicout so that .-ihen other
developers attracted by the school house start developing,, this
la -gout ,^rillshoir, them where the main streets are located. The Yorash
roads ought to be laid down and. tied up with State Road. If Development
the nErr date road is p _it through along Concord Avenue, it ori 11
bring a lot of traffic out this way and invite developers.
The problem at the present time is the extending of
the high land from the school to Blossom Street and laying it
out with sufficient outlets to give opportunity to shape it up
at a later d.at;e . , t'.,_rcu7,h road_ coming in from *. a.lt.ham Street
,r-th some reasonably direct line into this development was suggested.
road cannot be laid do'✓,rn definitely in the low part until a
1:;7ay of dr'ainl.nl7 it is found.
Er. Duff,;r stated that sore time ago he suggested that
the area from the Tov!n Office Builcing to the High School was
going to be quite an important area and prophesied that the Russell
llolzse might be the key property in the consideration of the rrhole
area. The Russell House is going out of business July 1st and
N,. Duffy thoucrht the matter should be investigated. The Town
