Minutes of the Lexington Planning Bard, April 29,1'19 <br />There were present :"essrt, . Greeley, Barbour and <br />the Secretary. <br />Voted: To ask the Chairman to consult i"r.Blake in re- <br />gard to !.e donation of a piece of land to properly <br />develop the conjunction of Somerset Road, Merriam <br />Streit, etc. <br />There was a lengthy discussion of the question <br />of building laws for the purpose of protecting the <br />torn from injurious building developments and of pro- <br />tecting buyers from speculators. This question the <br />Board agreed tot,ake under ive consideration. <br />It was the senee o :he Board that an effort <br />should be made to work out a scheme for securing the <br />East Lexington marsh and adjoining lands through an <br />investment club. <br />It wes the .,:_ins.- o:f the Board that it should pre- <br />eare a general statement in regard to its functions, <br />what ground it should cover and the main fields of its <br />usefulnes. Among the items mentioned were a town map, <br />developed with special reference to topography, the <br />development of this topography through street lay -outs, <br />6to., zoning, housing regulations, taxation, town ex- <br />penditures by business -like methods, and the organiza- <br />tion of public interest in the public development of <br />the town.
