Chairman
BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
June 15, 1956
The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Health was
held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Offices, at 3.30 P.M.
Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, Mr. Dole and Mr. Lurvey
were present.
Chairman McQuillan was unanimously elected Charman for
the coming year. He has been a member of the Board since the
origin&l Board was appointed ten years ago.
The Polio vaccine for the second series of inoculations
Polio is expected about July 1. As the schools will be closed, a
Program meeting of the school nurses and Mr. Lurvey will be held on
Monday, June 18, at 2.30 P.M. to discuss a set-up for the
public clinics where all children will receive their second
shots. A notice will be sent out through the schools so
parents will be given notice as to the procedure for their
children. Notice will also be given to the local newspaper.

Mr. Friel, the builder, met with the Board at 3.45 P.M.
3 Paul His lot at 3 Paul Revere Road was found unsuitable for a
Revere Rd. cesspool or septic tank installation without some additional
engineering advice. Town sewer for the area will not be
available until about September, 1957. The decision of the
Board was to ask Mr. Friel to have an engineer draw up a plan
for disposal works, have the engineer talk it over with Mr.
Lucas, our Whitman & Howard engineer, and when agreed on a
workable solution, present this plan to the Board for approval.
Mr. Friel agreed to this as he feels the lot can be serviced ,
even though it may involve extra expense.
The Sanitarian's report was read and items discussed.
One lot that was turned down, 110 Simonds Road, Mr. Gilbert
Barroza, owner, was talked over, and the Board decided that
Mr. Barroza should. ask for connection to the Grove Street
sewer. He has an easement through his land to Grove Street
which may cost near $1000, but the Simonds Road sewer will
probably not be available for another year. It was suggested
by lir. Cosgrove that a letter be sent to Mr. Barroza stating
this decision so that in the future the Board would have a
record on file to back up decisions in the future. Mr. Mc-
Quillan dictated a letter quoting the rule in the Board of
Health Regulations, Chapter V, Section 1, stating "where
there is a common sewer and within a period of time
satisfactory to the Board of Health, such building to be
connected with the sewer".

Mr. Lurvey asked the Board if they would accept an in-
experienced engineer to replace Mr. Capone who would be under
the supervision of Mr. Lucas. Due to the scarcity of engi-
neers in the area, this was accepted by the Board as the only
solution, and the Board agreed to go along with the new man.
Mr. McQuillan suggested a news release be sent to the
Minute Man newspaper after each Board meeting so the public
would be aware of the work covered by the Health Department.
The Board of Selectmen and the Board of Appeals have a resume
of the meetings held by them in the paper after each session.
The Clerk will send in a record after the meetings with the
number of permits and licenses issued, etc.
The meeting adjourned at 5 P.M.
