BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
May 26, 1954
The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held
Friday, May 26 at 3 P.M. in the Selectmen's Room, Town
Office Building. Mr. McQuillan, Chairman, Dr. Cosgrove,
and Mr. Cole were present. Mr. Richard Jackson, Health
Sanitarian, and the Clerk were also present.
A letter from the Selectmen was presented to the Board
concerning the complaint from Mr. John Brucchi regarding
overflowing cesspools in the MCC onchie development, dumping
onto his property. The Chairman suggested that Mr. Jackson
contact the State and ask their advice on how to remedy the
situation in this area.
The Chairman suggested that the Health Sanitarian be a
little tougher in granting permits for cesspools and septic
tanks, and tighten up on these people by insisting on more
atone, etc., than is the minimum allowed. Mr. Cole stated
that samples of the soil where septic tanks or cesspools
are to be, can be tested by the State, and if it is not
according to minimum size, they will tell you.
A letter was received from Mr. Stevens regarding Dailey's
piggery, and this case is still pending in Court, and advising
that the Health Sanitarian keep a check on the premises.
A letter was also received frau Mr. Stevens regarding A. C.
Mortimer, 14 Dexter Road, and his intention to connect to
the sewer. Mr. Stevens was notified that this house has
now been connected to the sewer.
It was recommended by the Board that a letter be sent
to all those in the Sunwfield section and Manor section,
who had been granted an extension to April 1, 1954, asking
that they notify the Board of Health as soon as possible
of their intentions.
The correspondence regarding the Fidler premature baby was
discussed by the Board, and it was agreed to contact Mr.
Stevens for legal advice on this matter.
A petition was received signed by 41 owners of property
in the vicinity of Potter's piggery asking that this piggery
be removed. The Board recommended that a public hearing be
held on June 11 at 8 o'clock in the Selectmen's Room, Town
Office Building, and that thesd people be so notified.
