September 16, 1949
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held
in the Selectments Room, Town Office Building on Friday,
September 17, 1949 at 3:15 P.M. Chairman Cosgrove, Mr.
Russell, Mr. Jackson and the Agent were present.
Mr. Jackson submitted a report of his activities
for the period from August 19, 1949 to September 15,
1949. He explained that he had also analyzed samples
of well water for individuals on Valley Rbad, Reed Street
and the Cambridge -Concord Highway.
Application was received from George E. Woodbury
for permission to keep 19 chinchillas at 19 Fuller
Road. It was unanimously voted that the application
be denied.

Permits
Application was received from Mrs. Elizabeth R.
White, 26 Downing Road for the renewal of her license
to maintain a boarding home for infants. Upon motion
duly made and seconded, it was voted to renew the license.
Application was received from Mrs. Coleman, 6
Raymond Street for the renewal of her license to main-
tain a Convalceseent home. Upon motion duly made and
seconded, it was voted to renew the license.
Application was received from John A. MacDonald,
342 Bedford Street for renewal of his license to keep
3500 poultry. Mr. MacDonald has had a poultry farm
for a number of years, prior to the Zoning laws, and
no complaints have been registered. Upon motion duly
made and seconded, it was voted to renew the license.
Notice was received from the University of Mass- Sanitation
achusetts relative to a course in Enviromental Sanita- Courses
tion. Mr. Jackson explained that he had investigated
this and he does not know just hbw much value he would
obtain from it. He steted that housing is considered
one of the aspects of public health, but he thought it
is one of the minor problems in Lexington. The Chair-
man agreed.
The Board discussed briefly the extent of Mr.
Lamontts activities in relation to the Board of Health.
It was unanimously voted to discontinue any further
payments to Mr. Lamont inasmuch as he is no longer
doing any work for the Board.
Report of vital statistics:-, for the period August
20, 1949 t� September 15, 1949, were received from the
Town Clerk.

An informal discussion was held with reference
to the lunch rooms at the Adams and High Schools.
Mr. Jackson said that he was not sure as to the
Board's responsibility, but he thought he could in-
spect the lunchrooms at any time.
The Chairman suggested that Mr. Jackson might
be in a position to offer helpful suggestions and
it was agreed that he would contact Mr. Grindle
before making any inspections.
The Board authorized Mr. Jackson to prepare a
notice to be published in the local paper, to be
submitted to the Board for approval, calling
attention to the fact that garbage containing for-
eign matter will not be collected.
The meeting adjourned at 4:25 P. M.
