152
Jurors
Webb
Claim
Town
Dump
( see page 144,
for April 5th
meeting)
SELECTMEN'S MUTING
April 4, 1949
A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held
in the Selectmen's Room on Monday evening, April 4,
1949 at 7:30 P.M. prior to the second adjourned town
meeting. Chairman, Emery, Messrs. Gay, Nickerson,
Driscoll and Hoyt were present. The Clerk was also present.
Mr. Carroll, Town Clerk, left the jury box with
the Clerk of the Board due to the fact that he was
busy with his duties in connection with the adjourned
town meeting.
Mr. John J. Manning, 40 Outlook Drive was drawn
to serve on Civil Business, first session, at Cam-
bridge beginning May 2, 1949.
Mr. Clifford A. Fletcher, 46 Blossomerest Road
was drawn to serve on Civil Business, second session,
at Cambridge beginning May 2, 1949.
Mr. Lynch, Town Counsel, arrived at the meeting
at 7:40 P.M.
The Chairman informed the members of thehoard
that a letter had been received from Mrs. Edmund A.
Webb, together with bills incurred as a result of
her fall which occurred on the steps of the Town
Office Building. He explained that he had talked
with Mr. Lynch on the telephone and was advised
to forward the bills and communication to him.
He said that he had told Mr. Lynch that the members
of the Board felt a mord obligation to pay the bills.
Upon motion of Mr. Gay, seconded by Mr. Nickerson,
it was voted to refer Mrs. Webb's letter and doctors'
bills to the Town Counsel.
The Chairman said that he would like to bring up
the subject of the town dump. He reminded the Board
that a letter had been written to Mr. Meadows inform-
ing him that the Board voted to give them a contract.
Mr. White telephoned Mr. Emery and was very reasonable
but said that Mr. Meadows had purchased a dump body
and they still hope something can be worked out. In
the mean time the price on scrap material has fallen,
but they would still like the contract. The Chairman
said that he wondered if there is any way that the
Selectmen could give Meadows a contract and be in-
demnified by a bond as Mr. Lynch suggested in his
letter, and exclude from the dump all out of town
people:
:D
hmesull
1
