297 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />March 13, 1948 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen <br />was held on Saturday, March 13, 1948 at 10:00 p.m. <br />Chairman Paxton, Messrs. Emery, Driscoll, Gay and <br />Nickerson were present. The Town Counsel and Clerk <br />were also present. <br />It was decided to provide under Article 2 for the <br />appointment of a Recreation Committee of five, two <br />members to be appointed by the Selectmen, two members <br />to be appointed by the School Committee and one member <br />to be appointed by the Moderator. <br />The Selectmen's - Expenses Account was increased <br />$500; this amount to be used by the Recreation Committee <br />if necessary. <br />The Chairman informed the $card that the Chief <br />of Police has received an offef $675 for the cruising <br />car recently involved in an accident. He said that he <br />has seen the car and it is very badly damaged. <br />Mr. Driscoll moved that the Chief of Police be <br />authorized to sell the wrecked car for $675. Mr. Gay <br />seconded the motion, and it was so voted. <br />The Board then decided to increase the requested <br />appropriation under Article 16 for the purchase of a <br />new cruising car from $800 to $1500. <br />The Board decided to take no action on Article 31 <br />relative to rental of town equipment; this article <br />having been inserted at the request of ten or more <br />registered voters. <br />Upon motion of Mr. Emery, seconded by Mr. Driscoll, <br />the following vote was passed .relative to Article 46. <br />in the warrant: <br />In the opinion of the Selectmen, the easement required <br />by the Boston Edison Company for its proposed trans- <br />mission line is such an easement as is no longer nec- <br />essary for the purpose for which it was acquired by <br />the Town. <br />
