Rudd <br />re: letter <br />of recommen- <br />dation. <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />October 6, 1947 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held on Monday evening, October 6, 1947, in the Select- <br />men's Room. There were present: Chairman Paxton, <br />Messrs. Emery, Gay and Driscoll. <br />At 7:30 P.M. Mr. H. Webster Thomas, Chairman <br />of the School Committee, met with the Board. He said <br />that the School Committee would like to have the Select- <br />men decide what attitude they are officially going to <br />take if and when the Taxpayer's Association want to <br />review the budgets. He stated that the School Committee <br />did not feel that they should go before the Association <br />as a tribunal. He said that he did not believe the <br />matter would come up for some months but he would like <br />to have the Board think it over And advise the School <br />Committee as to what decision they make. Mr. Emery <br />said that of course the Selectmen would settle budgets <br />with the Appropriation Committee first and then possibly <br />invite the Taxpayer's Association to meet with the Board. <br />Mr. Thomas retired at 7:45 P.M., and Mr. George Rudd <br />met with the Board. <br />Mr. Rudd was formerly employed by the Town as a water <br />meter reader. Mr. Rudd discussed at length his job as a <br />reader and said that he would like to have his name <br />cleared and a recommendation that he is a trustworthy <br />employee. The Chairman said the Board would consider the <br />subject and would let him know. Mr. Rudd retired at <br />8:10 P.M. <br />Mr. DeFoe, Sup't. of Public Works, Mr. Burns, Ass't. <br />Sup't. of Public Works, Mr. Charles L. Shea and Mr. <br />Russo met for the opening of bids for sewer construction. <br />Five firms were invited to bid but only the two present <br />submitted quotations which were as follows: <br />Charles L. Shea, 235 Whiting St;,East Dedham, Mass. <br />Certified check $2425.00 <br />Woburn Street $ 11,355.00 <br />Baker, Banks & <br />Chase Ayes. 8,544.00 <br />Ledgelawn 13,182.90 <br />Liberty 10,668.00 <br />Total 43,749.80 <br />1 <br />
