319 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />April 28, 1947 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, <br />on Monday evening, April 28, 1947, at 7:30 p.m. <br />Messrs. Emery, Gay and Locke were present. The Clerk <br />was also present. In the absence of Mr. Paxton, Mr. <br />Locke served as Chairman. <br />At 7:30 p.m. Mr. Carroll met with the Board fdr <br />the drawing of two jurors. <br />Mr. John R. Sloane, 23 Edgewood Road, Lexington, TownJurors <br />was drawn to serve on criminal business, first session, Drawn <br />at Cambridge, beginning Monday, May 19th. <br />Mr. J. Henry Duffy, Insurance, 25 Maple Street, <br />Lexington, was drawn to serve on civil business, first <br />session, at Cambridge, beginning Monday, June 2, 1947. <br />Mr. Carroll retired at 7:34 p.m. <br />Mr. DeFoe, Sup't. of Public Works, met with the <br />Board. Mr. DeFoe requested permission to purchase a <br />power lawn mower. He stated that the R. E. Charvers Co. <br />has furnished the Town of Lexington with mowers for a <br />number of years. Their quotation is $582.00 less 155.00 Approve <br />for the old unit. Mr. DeFoe said he investigated Puchase <br />the possiblity of repairing the present lawn mower and of Power <br />the parts alone would amount of y$136.00. Mr. Emery asked Mower <br />if Mr. LeFoe had obtained any other bids and he replied in <br />the negative. stating that this is the type of machine that <br />Mr. Garrity, Supt. of Parks and Playgrounds, has always <br />purc'ased and one which he recommends. Mr. Emery asked <br />if the Town M eeting had appropriated sufficient funds <br />for the mower and Mr. DeFoe replied in the affirmative. <br />Mr. Emery said that he would like to know how Mr. Paxton <br />felt about this machine. mr. Eocke asked if the present <br />power mower was in running conditithn and ier. DeFoe replied <br />in the negative. idir.rmery moved that the Sup't. of Public <br />Works be authorized to place an order with the R. E. Charvers <br />Co. for a power mower at their cost of $582.00 subject to the <br />approval of Mr. Paxton. <br />Mr. DeFoe requested authorization to sell approximately <br />1600 feet of one inch cement lined pipe to the City of <br />Waltham. He explained that this pipe was lined by the Town <br />of Lexington some years ago and it is not the type we are <br />now using for water services. He said that it not too <br />
