172 SELECTMEN'S MEETING January 6, 1947 A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Monday evening, January 6, 1947 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Potter, Messrs. Locke, Sarano and Paxton were present. The Clerk was also present. ' At 7:30 p.m. Mr. Alan Adams appeared before the Board. The Chairman stated that the Board would like Publishipg to discuss with him his request for permission to Budgets publish the budgets presented by the various departments. Mr. Adams said that his angle was to publish them as a straight news story with the expiation that they, as printed, are only preliminary. He said that he thought the information, particularly to town meeting members, might be instructive. Mr. Adams said that he would include an explanation on any budgets that might other- wise be misleading. Mr. Paxton suggested that he contact the heads of the various departments before publishing the information. Mr. Adams retired at 8:04 p.m. Letter was received from Robert C. Merriam relative Insurance to policy #118-1294, expiring on February 21, 1947, which covers a frame stable at 24 Sylvia Street. This property. has recently been sold,under tax title, to the former owner. The Clerk was instructed to so advise Mr. Merriam and request him not to renew the coverage. Chairman read a letter from Mr. John H. Reardon, USO Area Director informing the Board that arrangements have been completed to move his office on January 2, 1947 to the USO Center in Waltham. Comp. for Asst. Regist. Mr. Carroll's letter relative to establishing salaries for Assistant Registrars was"held over from the last regular meeting of the Board. The Chairman reported that he had conferred with Mr. Spencer and the arrangements which have been made are agreeable to him. It was decided to approve Mr. Carroll's recommendation that the Assistant Registrars be paid at the rate of 1.00 an hour:., and that the amounts be put through Aurg 1 1
