172 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />January 6, 1947 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building <br />on Monday evening, January 6, 1947 at 7:30 p.m. <br />Chairman Potter, Messrs. Locke, Sarano and Paxton <br />were present. The Clerk was also present. <br />' At 7:30 p.m. Mr. Alan Adams appeared before the <br />Board. The Chairman stated that the Board would like <br />Publishipg to discuss with him his request for permission to <br />Budgets publish the budgets presented by the various departments. <br />Mr. Adams said that his angle was to publish them as a <br />straight news story with the expiation that they, as <br />printed, are only preliminary. He said that he thought <br />the information, particularly to town meeting members, <br />might be instructive. Mr. Adams said that he would <br />include an explanation on any budgets that might other- <br />wise be misleading. Mr. Paxton suggested that he contact <br />the heads of the various departments before publishing <br />the information. <br />Mr. Adams retired at 8:04 p.m. <br />Letter was received from Robert C. Merriam relative <br />Insurance to policy #118-1294, expiring on February 21, 1947, which <br />covers a frame stable at 24 Sylvia Street. This property. <br />has recently been sold,under tax title, to the former <br />owner. The Clerk was instructed to so advise Mr. <br />Merriam and request him not to renew the coverage. <br />Chairman read a letter from Mr. John H. Reardon, USO <br />Area Director informing the Board that arrangements have <br />been completed to move his office on January 2, 1947 to the <br />USO Center in Waltham. <br />Comp. for <br />Asst. <br />Regist. <br />Mr. Carroll's letter relative to establishing <br />salaries for Assistant Registrars was"held over from <br />the last regular meeting of the Board. The Chairman <br />reported that he had conferred with Mr. Spencer and <br />the arrangements which have been made are agreeable to <br />him. <br />It was decided to approve Mr. Carroll's recommendation <br />that the Assistant Registrars be paid at the rate of <br />1.00 an hour:., and that the amounts be put through <br />Aurg <br />1 <br />1 <br />
