Holden 124.00 <br />The Chairman informed the Board that the Lexington <br />Community Fund would like permission to use a conference room <br />from November 3, 1946 to November 27, 1946 for their <br />headquarters inasmuch as there isn't any vacant store <br />available They will be using the room from 9:00 a.m. until <br />5:30 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day. <br />Mr. Sarano moved that the use of the conference room <br />be granted, free of charge. Mr. Paxton seconded the motion, <br />and it was so voted. <br />The Chairman reviewed briefly the ease of the Town of <br />Lexington v. Rose Scurto. <br />Mr. Paxton moved that the case be referred to Mr. Lynch, <br />Town Counsel, and that he be instructed to proceed with the <br />matter. Mr. Locke seconded the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Messrs. Paxton and Sarano retired at 8:30 p.m. <br />At 9:00 pram. the following members of the Appropriation <br />ApproppietijnCommittee appeared before the Board: Chairman Brown, Messrs. <br />Newhall, Jenney, Lane, Winlock and Macbeth. Mr. Macbeth stated <br />that Mr. Dines, Assistant Director of Accounts, advised him <br />that to date Commissioner Long has not approved any increases <br />for wages where the money was to be provided by transfer from <br />the Excess and Deficiency Account. Howeve , if a Town votes <br />at a Town Meeting to increase salaries, the appropriation <br />would be valid and Mr. Long has no right to over -rule it. <br />Mr. Macbeth stated that the- Thwn can charge the 1947 <br />appropriation and accrue the salaries up through January 2, <br />1947'and on January 2, 1947 they could be paid, but they <br />must be added to the tax rate in 1947. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
