SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />March 25, 1946 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room Town Office Building, on <br />Monday evening, March 25, 1946 at 7:00 P.M. Chairman <br />Potter, Messrs. Locke, Rowse and Paxton were present. <br />The Clerk was ,also present. <br />A letter was received from the Metropolitan State <br />Hospital requesting the appointment of Mr. Eugene T. <br />Varley as a Special Police Officer. <br />Mr. Rowse moved' that Mr. Eugene. T. Varley be <br />appointed a Special Police Officer in the Town of Lex- <br />ington for a term expiring March 31, 1947. Mr. Paxton <br />seconded the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Upon motion of Mr. Locke, seconded by Mr. Rowse, it <br />was voted to grant the following licenses (Quote' ** <br />Votes to be presented at the Town Meeting were then <br />considered. <br />Upon motion of Mr. Rowse, seconded by Mr. Locke, it <br />was voted to eliminate the words "Eminent Domain" in <br />Article 48. <br />Upon motion of Mr. Rowse, seconded by Mr. Paxton, it <br />voted that Article 52 be indefinitely postponed. <br />Upon motion of Mr. Rowse, seconded byMr. Locke, it <br />was voted to request an appropriation f�'20,000 for Snow <br />Removal. <br />was <br />453 <br />Appoint <br />Eugene T. <br />Varley <br />Special <br />Police <br />Change <br />Certain <br />Votes for <br />Town <br />Meeting <br />Mr. Rowse suggested that the Board of Selectmen obtain <br />a sense of the meeting vote as to whether or not the Town <br />Meeting would go on record in favor or in opposition to the <br />proposed race track in Burlington. <br />Inasmuch as the Town Counsel has ruled that the Board <br />of Selectmen has no right to cthnsider the East Lexington <br />Fire Station except in relation to the original bids, it <br />was decided to ask Town Meeting for a total appropriation <br />of $75,000, increasing the amount requested under Article 22 <br />from $11,500 to $20,000. <br />The Chairman informed the Board that Mr. Charles Goodwin <br />of Coolidge Avenue was very much distuirbed because the sewer <br />had not been completed in Coolidge Avenue, and that money <br />had been made available for this work. The balance in the <br />account of $19,517.24, according to the note prepared for <br />Town Meeting, is to be used for the North Lexington Sewer. <br />The Chairman felt that this amount should not be <br />transferred, but should be used for the Coolidge Avenue <br />sewer. <br />
