159 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />April 30, 1945 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, on Monday <br />evening, April 30, 1945 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Locke, <br />Messrs. Potter, Sarano and Sheldon were present. The <br />Clerk was also present. <br />At 7:30 p.m. Mr. James J. Carroll, Town Clerk appeared <br />before the Board for the drawing of three jurors. <br />Mr. Ashton G. Little, Salesman, York Street was drawn <br />to serve on Criminal Business at Cambridge beginning the <br />first Monday in June, 1945. Jurors <br />Mr. James C. Puffer, Banker, 10 Richard Road, was <br />drawn to serve on Civil Business, Second Session at <br />Cambridge beginning the first Monday in June. <br />Mr. Albert B. MacKay, Plumber, 24 Fletcher Avenue, <br />was drawn to serve on Civil Business, First Session, at <br />Cambridge beginning the first Monday in June. <br />The Chairman read a letter from Mr. Carroll, Town Decennial <br />Clerk, advising the Board that the total count as taken by Census <br />the enumerators for the Decennial Census of 1945 is 12,533. <br />Thisindicates a decrease of 600 in the population. <br />Mr. Carroll retired at 7:45 p.m. and Mr. Paxton appeared <br />before the Board. <br />Mr. Simeone's request to operate a public <br />Street was held, over from last week. <br />After further considering the matter, Mr. <br />moved that the request be denied. Mr. Sheldon <br />the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Mr;; Paxton said that he had attended a meeting at ,._ <br />Cambridge pertaining to the mosquito control project. He <br />stated that Mr. Hooker, City Engineer of Cambridge, was <br />elected Chairman and Mr. Perine of Belmont was elected <br />Secretary. Mr. Hinchey from Waltham was appointed Super- <br />intendent at a salary of $250.00 per month. Mr. Paxton <br />stated that there would be two inspectors, a foreman and <br />laborers. The inspectors and the foreman will receive $1.20 <br />per hour, and the laborers will receive a $1.00 per hour. <br />Mr. Paxton said that the project may want to rent some <br />trucks, and he advised the group that he had two trucks Which <br />they could hire. <br />Mr. Paxton retired at 7:40 p.m. <br />dump on Maple <br />Sarano <br />seconded <br />Deny <br />Public <br />Dump on <br />Maple St. <br />Mosquito <br />Control <br />Project <br />
