68 <br />Jurors <br />Census <br />Listing <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />January 22, 1945. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Roams, Tem Office Building, en <br />Monday evening, January 22, 1945, at 7:30 P.M. The <br />members were notified of this meeting by a notice nailed <br />January 18, 1945. Chairman Locke, Messrs. Potter, Rowse, <br />Saran() and Sheldon were preaent. The Clerk wan also <br />present. <br />At 7830 P.M. Mr. James J. Carroll, Town Clerk, <br />appeared before the Board for the_drawing of three jurors. <br />John E. Johnson, Roofer, 8 Cary Avenue, was drawn <br />to serve on the Firat Session, Criminal Business, at <br />Cambridge, beginning tueaday, March 6, 1945. <br />Frank J. Love, Jr., Boston Edison Company, 3 <br />Wallis Court, was drawn to serve on the First Session, <br />Civil Business, at Cambridge, beginning Mondgr, � ch 5, 1945. <br />Joseph Johnston, Greenskeep.er, 14 Walnut Street, <br />Wes drawn to serve on the Second Session, Civil Business, <br />at Cambridge, beginning Monday, March 5, 1945. <br />Mr. Carroll asked the Board Whether or not it would <br />be advisable to commence the. Decennial. Census Listing. <br />He said that if he were to start now it would be necessary <br />to request a transfer because there is no money available <br />until the appropriation in March. <br />The Board felt that it would be better to wait until <br />after Town Meeting before expenses were incurred relative <br />to the Census. <br />Mr. Carroll retired at 7:45 P.M., and Yr. Paxton' <br />mppeared before the Board. <br />The Chairman stated that a hearing was scheduled to <br />be held on February 9, 1945 at 10800 P.M. relative to <br />Hearing on the Bedford, Concord, Lincoln relocation of Virginia <br />Virginia Road in Concord, and requested Mr. Paxtbn to attend on <br />Road behalf of the Town. <br />Mr. Paxton retired at 8:05 P.M., and Mr. John A. <br />Lyons, Chairman of the Board of Public Welfare, appeared <br />before the Board. <br />Welfare <br />Salaries <br />The Chairman stated that the question had arisen <br />pertaining to the control of Civil Service over salaries. <br />MEr. Lyons stated that the Civil Service has a <br />Statutory right to set the salaries, and the schedule <br />calla for step -rate increase which become effective Whether <br />the Board of Selectmen approve or not. <br />1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />
