462 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />April 17, 1944 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building,. <br />on Monday evening, April 17, 1944, at 7:30 P.M. <br />Chairman Locke, Messrs. Sarano and Rowse were present. <br />The Clerk was also present. <br />At 7:30 P.M. Mr. James W. Denney appeared before <br />the Board. <br />Mr. Denney, 11 Fairview Avenue, Lexington, said <br />Tax that he was told that the Town owns four lots formerly <br />Title owned by his brother, now deceased. He said that two <br />Offer lots were on Wood Street and two on Colonial Heights, <br />and he would like to pay the back taxes. . <br />The Clerk understood that these lots were formerly <br />in the name of Henry Garten and, according to Mr. Carroll, <br />the Town only owns one lot (lot 251) on Wood Street <br />which was formerly owned by Henry Garten. <br />Mr. Denny informed the Board that the lots in <br />Held which he is interested are #249 and #250 on Wood Street, <br />Over and #278 and #279 on Colonial Heights. He said that <br />the former owner would be William H. S. Denney. <br />The Chairman informed Mr. Denney that more in- <br />fwould have to be obtained before any decision <br />could be made pertaining to these lots. <br />Mr. Denney retired at 7:45 P.M <br />The Clerk was instructed to find out what, the <br />taxes on these lots are, to date, including the amount <br />owed at the time of foreclosure. <br />Mr. <br />Mr. <br />present <br />Paxton appeared before the Board at 7:45 P.M. <br />Paxton said that he did not have Bay items to <br />to the Board this evening. <br />The Chairman read a letter from Mr. Harold Conant <br />of 47 Lincoln Street, suggesting that the Town procure <br />Pine some five-year old pine trees, which are being offered <br />Trees free of charge by the State, and have them planted be - <br />Lincoln tween the dump and Lincoln Street. <br />Street Mr. Paxton said that he received a letter from the <br />State relative to the pine trees, but Mr. Garrity did <br />not believe there was much merit in obtaining any seedlings. <br />It was decided to refer Mr. Conant's letter to Mr. <br />Garrity. Mr. Sarano said that he would also talk with <br />Mr. Garrity on the matter. <br />1 <br />
