424 <br />Meet to <br />Disc. <br />Annual <br />Budgets <br />Fire <br />Station <br />SELECTMEN' S MEE`1' ING <br />March 6, 1944 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, on Monday <br />evening, March 6, 1944, at 8:00 P.M. Chairman Rowse, Messrs. <br />Potter, Locke, Sarano and Sheldon were present. The Clerk <br />was also present. <br />The following members of the Appropriation Committee <br />were also present: Messrs. Hoyt, Hynes, Winlock, Maynard, <br />Newhall, Brown, Bryant and White. <br />Mr. Clyde Steeves, Chairman of the Board of Assessors, <br />was present and Mr. Tracy Ames, representing the School <br />Committee, appeared at 8:15 P.M. <br />Mr. Hoyt, Chairman of the Appropration Committee, said <br />that this meeting was called in accordance with Article 13, <br />Section 2 of the General By -Laws of the Town, to consider <br />the items which make up theannual budget. <br />Mr. Hoyt said that Mr. Walsh, Chairman of the Cemetery <br />Commidsioners, who had been notified of the meeting, did <br />question the Sale of Lots Fund Transfer. Mr. Walsh would <br />prefer to build up the fund. <br />Mr. Steeves said that he had read the Appropriation <br />Committee's Report, and had no questiond. <br />Mr. Rowse said that the Board of Selectmen had <br />originally approved $300.00 requested in the Patriot's <br />Day Budget. When the Appropriation Committee recommended <br />that the sum of $150.00 be taken from the Leroy Brown Fund, <br />the Board of Selectmen rescinded their previous vote and <br />agreed with the Appropriation Committee. He said that the members <br />of the 19th of April Committee were upset when they read <br />in the Appropriation Committee's Report that $150.00 of the <br />300.00 requested was to be taken from the Leroy Brown <br />Fund. <br />The Chairman said that the Board had decided not to <br />recommend taking any amount from the Leroy Brown Fund. <br />Mr. Hoyt asked Mr. Ames if there were any questions <br />pertaining t q, he School Department Budget, and Mr. Ames <br />replied that ad gone over the report briefly and that he <br />had no questions. <br />Mr. Hoyt said that the Appropriation Committee has <br />not definitely decided on the wording of the statement <br />pertaining to the fire house, but the Committee is unanimoudly <br />opposed to the erection of a coMbination station, and <br />unanimously opposed to the taking of the Leary Property for <br />the purpose of'.buildi ng a Central Station. However, they <br />do not oppose building a Central Fire Station. <br />1.4 <br />1 <br />
