415 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />February 21, 1944 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, <br />on Monday evening, February 21,. 1944, at 7:00 P.M. <br />Chairman Rowse, Messrs. Potter, Locke, Sarano and Sheldon <br />were present. The Clerk was also present. <br />At 7:00 P.M. Mr. John Lamont, Health Inspector, <br />appeared before the Board. he <br />Mr. Lamont said that/was recommending that the Silva <br />permit of Ralph J. Silva, 410 Massachusetts Avenue, to Chicken <br />keep chickens at this address, loe revoked. Mr. Lamont Permit <br />said that the Silvas haven't very much room, and they <br />live in a two-family house. He said their permit is to <br />keep twelve chickens at 410 Massachusetts Avenue, but the <br />hen house is on Hillside Avenue the yar..ddon Massachusetts <br />Avenue. The other family in this house (Chester W. Dos) <br />has complained several times about the Silva's chickens <br />running around out of the hen yard, but the Silvas have <br />refused to keep them cooped up. They wander onto the <br />Doe's back porch and into the entry. Mr. Lamont said <br />that he aldo has spoken to the Silvas several times, and <br />written them a letter requesting that the nuisance be <br />abated. <br />Mr. Potter moved that Mr. Lamont's recommendation <br />be adopted and the permit be revoked. Mr. Sarano seconded <br />the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Mr. Lamont said that Dr. Lee has cut up his land at Dr. Lee <br />105 Massachusetts Avenue and has four houses, each house Held <br />on a separate piece of land. Mr. Lamont said that Dr. Over <br />Lee has had the lots surveyed, and two houses sold. The <br />buildings are fifteen feet from all lines. Originally the <br />houses were all built on one lot. Mr. Lamont said that <br />the plan must be approved by the Board of Survey before <br />it can be recorded at the Registry. <br />The Chairman requested Mr. Lamont to obtain a plan <br />of these lots, and the matter was held over for one week. <br />The Chairman read a letter from Mr. Paxton in which Damage to <br />he estimated the damage at Cary Memorial Building on Cary <br />Monday, February 14, 1944, to be as follows: Hall <br />Water damage due to the loosening of the <br />bubbler in the upstairs drinking fountain... 15.00 <br />Loss of brass door knob from the easterly <br />entrance 5.00 <br />Damage in men's lavatory . 5.00 <br />Total $25.00 <br />The hall was being used on this date bythe Sacred <br />Heart Church for a dance. A rental fee of 15.00 <br />was paid, and a deposit of $50.00 left with the Town <br />Clerk. <br />Mr. Potter moved that the bill in the amount of <br />$25.00 be committed charging this damage to the Sacred <br />
