380 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />January 22, 1944 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Buildilng on <br />Saturday morning, January 22, 1944, at 9:30;1E.L <br />Chairman Rowse, Messrs. Potter, Locke and Sarano were <br />present. The Clerk was also present. <br />The following schedule of automobile allowances, as <br />of 1943 rates, was considered by the Board: <br />Name <br />Frederick J. Spencer <br />Ernest A. Garrity <br />Allowance Department <br />$100.00 Assessors' <br />100.00 Plumbing <br />100.00 Building <br />150.00 Health <br />150.00 Sealer <br />100.00 Fire <br />75.00 Wire <br />400.00 Parks & Playground <br />The Clerk had been requested to obtain a report <br />from these individuals relative to the number of miles <br />traveled in 1942 and 1943 in connection with Town work. <br />The replies received were as follows: <br />Mr. <br />Mr. <br />Mr. <br />Mr. <br />Cann <br />Lindstrom <br />Lamont <br />Garrity <br />1942 - 12 months - 5,217 miles <br />1943 - 10 months - 2,830 miles <br />1942 - 12 months - 5,100 miles <br />1943 - 12 months - 3,994 miles <br />1942 - 12 months - _5,000 miles PLUS <br />1943 - 12 months - 7,500 miles <br />1942 - 12 months - 12,453 miles <br />1943 - 12 months - 10,690 miles <br />Upon considering the question of automobile allowances, <br />it was decided that the sum of $100.00, now set up for <br />Mr. Spencer in the Assessors' budget remain at this figure. <br />It was also decided that the sum of $150.00, now set up <br />for Mr. Lamont in the Health Department budget and $150.00 <br />in the Sealer of Weights & Measure budget remain at these <br />figures. The Board felt that the allowance for the Plumbing <br />and Building Inspectors should be increased to $150.00, <br />the Wire Inspector should remain at $75.00, and the Supt. <br />of Parks & Playgrounds should remain at $400.00. The <br />auto allowance of Roy A. Cook was set at $200.00 with <br />the idea of adjusting the item of collision insurance. <br />The possibility of Mr. Paxton being drafted into <br />the Armed Forces was discussed by the Board, and it was <br />felt that some action should be taken pertaining to this <br />matter. <br />Mr. Locke moved that the necessary forms be obtained <br />1 <br />
