244 <br />Uses of <br />Halls <br />Bedford <br />'Air Base <br />(Water <br />Bill <br />Worthen - <br />Merriam <br />Insurance <br />Contract <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />June 15, 1943 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Tuesday evening, <br />June 15, 1943, at 8:30 P.M. The members were notified of the <br />meeting by the Chairman by telephone. Chairman Rowse, Messrs. <br />Sarano, Potter, Locke and Sheldon were present. The Clerk was <br />also present. <br />Mr. Paxton appeared before the Board at 8:40.P.M. <br />He said that the Lexington Lions Club had requested the <br />use of Cary Hall on October 21, 1943, from 7:00 P.M. to, <br />10:00 P.M. for a penny sale. <br />Mr. Potter moved that the use of the hall b e granted, <br />free of charge. Mr. Sheldon seconded the motion, and it, was <br />so voted. <br />Mr. Paxton said that the Lexington Grange had requested <br />the use of Cary Hall, September 25, 1943, from 2:00 P.M. to <br />10:00 P.M. for the annual fair. <br />Mr. Sheldon moved the use of the hall be granted subject <br />to the usual charge. Mr. Potter seconded the motion, and it <br />was so voted. <br />Mr. Paxton said that Mr. Norlin had requested the use of <br />Cary Hall for Graduation Exercises on June 22, 1943, from <br />10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. <br />Mr. Potter moved that the use of the hall be.granted, <br />free of charge. Mr. Sarano seconded the motion, and it was <br />so voted. <br />Mr. Paxton reported that he had talked with Lt. Brinker <br />from Grenier Field pertaining to the amount of money the U. <br />S. Army owes the Town of Lexington for water. The bill now <br />runs close to $1,000.00. He said that previous to the <br />telephone conversation he had written a letter and had <br />requested payment for at least three month's supply. Lt. <br />Brinker informed Mr. Paxton that it was impossible to make <br />any payment on the account as the contract has not been <br />signed by the Town and returned to the U. S. Army. <br />Mr. Paxton said that there were parts of the contract <br />which were not approved by Mr. Wrightington, but he did not <br />make any suggestions. Mr. Paxton said he telephoned.Mr. Gow <br />of the M.D.C. tosee if he could obtain permission to sign <br />the contract, but the Commission has not met and the tie-in <br />on Appleton Street, Arlington has not been completed. <br />Mr. Paxton said that he would obtain further information <br />and report to the Board at its next meeting. <br />The Chairman read a letter from Robert C.
