220 <br />The matter of an Assistant Clerk to the Board was dis- <br />cussed. Mr. Potter moved that Miss Mary Jean Doherty be <br />appointed Assistant Clerk,effective April 30; 1943. Mr. <br />Sheldon seconded the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Potter moved that the Committee on Public Safety <br />-be notified that -a full-time girl should be employed to <br />handle the clerical work for that Committee"and also to <br />handle the duties of the switchboard. Mr. Sheldon seconded <br />the motion, and it was so voted. <br />Appointments to the Board of Public Welfare were dis- <br />cussed. Upon motion of. Mr. Potterseconded by Mr., Sheldon, <br />it was voted to appoint the following persons members of the <br />Board of Public Welfare, authorized under a special act of the <br />Legislature Chapter 6 of the Acts of 1943, and accepted by <br />the annual town Meeting held on March 15, 1943: Archie R. <br />Giroux, Ernest Cutter, Harold F. Lombard, John A. Lyons and <br />Public Matthew Stevenson. <br />Welfare All appointments were made for a period of one year <br />Board beginning May 1, 1943 with the exception of Mr. Giroux, who <br />was appointed for a term of only three months for the purpose <br />of assisting in organizing the new Board and bring to it the <br />benefits of his experience with the Board of Selectmen which, <br />up t•o• the appointment of this Board, has been the Board of <br />Public Welfare. <br />The Clerk was instructed to notify the members of the <br />appointments and invite them to meet with the Board of Select- <br />men on Monday, May 10, 1943 at 8:00 P.M. <br />Mr. Potter retired at 9:50 P.M. <br />Letter was received from Mr. Carroll stating that. -he was <br />contemplating issuing books listing the inhabitants of the <br />Town of Lexington. He said that the project would be entirely <br />outside of the confines ,of the duties of his office as Town <br />Clerk or Town Treasurer. <br />The•"Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Carroll that the <br />Board of Selectmen would have no onjections to his handling <br />the printing and sale of the list for the year 1943. <br />The Clerk informed the Board that Mr.Carl A. Arvidson, <br />55 Kendall Road, Lexington, had requested perMission to re - <br />Burial move the body of his daughter, who died from scarlet fever <br />Permit in 1935, from its present location in Westview Cemetery to <br />the family lot in the same cemetery. <br />Mr. Sarano moved that the Board of Selects <br />as the Board of Health, issue a permit for the disinterment <br />of the body of Edith Arvidson from the present lot in West- <br />view Cemetery to the Arvidson family lot in the'same cemetery. <br />Mr. Sheldon seconded the motion, and it was so voted. <br />List of water liens and commitment of water miscellaneous <br />charges were signed. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M. <br />A true record, Attest: <br />Clerk <br />aka <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
