Y <br /> A meeting of the Lexington Tree Committee was held on May 10, 2018, 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the <br /> Samuel Hadley Public Services Building. A quorum of five was present. <br /> Members Present: John Frey (chair), Jewel Kuljian, Gerry Paul, Anne Senning, Jim Wood <br /> The meeting acted on the following items: <br /> 1. Anne Senning was appointed as scribe. <br /> 2. Review of Minutes of April 12, 2018. Approval postponed until June 14, 2018 meeting. <br /> 3. Tree Inventory: Chris Filadoro reported via email that the Tree inventory contract has been <br /> signed and will begin next month. <br /> 4. Bylaw Tree removal applications and activity: No report. <br /> 5. Town Tree Manual Report: John Frey and Anne Senning presented a section on Invasive <br /> Species on Lexington's Public Lands, a section on the Invasive Emerald Ash Borer and a Section <br /> on the Invasive Asian Longhorn beetle for the fourth edition of the Tree Management Manual. <br /> The Tree Committee voted to approve this section of the fourth edition. They made a request to <br /> pay Bruce Walker an increased stipend to do additional graphics involved in this issue: two full <br /> pages and page number changes to all twelve full-page graphics. The Committee agreed that the <br /> Tree Management Manual work group be allowed to negotiate with Bruce Walker. They <br /> requested that he submit an invoice with a description of the work he performed. <br /> 6. Spring tree planting: Chris Filadoro reported via email that Matt Foti would be the contractor <br /> planting the trees this spring. Tree Committee discussed and approved tree species <br /> recommendations for 2018 spring and fall planting in 4/12/18 meeting. <br /> 7. Best Practices Study discussion: Subcommittee, Gerry, All. <br /> Gerry Paul and Jim Wood presented a report of Best Practices for Tree Planting <br /> The subcommittee discussed siting of trees with each of the Tree wardens of three towns: <br /> Belmont, Cambridge and Watertown. They concluded that the Tree warden is responsible for <br /> identifying tree planting locations in all three towns. <br /> 8. Recommendations for Tree Planting Bylaw amendment in dense housing developments <br /> and its effect on surrounding tree loss: Move to future follow up items. <br /> 9. Items to be discussed when Chris is present: <br /> 10. Bylaw Tree removal applications and activity. Chris <br /> 11. Review Chris's list of locations/species of trees planted in Fall 2017 planting.
