Greenways Corridor Committee
January 25, 2018
Ellen Stone Room, Cary Hall
Lexington, Massachusetts
Members Present: Mal Crawford, Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Bob Hausslein,
Susan Kenyon, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski
Other Attendees: none
Votes: Minutes of December 18, 2017, meeting: Approved
Reports/Updates:
• A couple of meetings have been held with Karen Mullins and Keith, Mike, and Alex. One also
included Jordan McCarron and Phil Hamilton (ConCom chair). All of this is toward figuring
out oversight of trails that are not on Conservation property - such as the trail between Cop-
persmyth Way and the Bridge School. It would be ideal to have all such trails under Conser-
vation, but Karen needs more time/resources. She can request this from "upstairs", but
needs support. If GCC creates a 3-5 year plan, including budget and staff time needs, that
will help Karen get what she needs. Next step, put together a long-range plan for the future
development of ACROSS Lexington. Keith, Eileen, Mike, & Alex will work on this, with Su-
san's help on making sure the final documents make sense.
• Bridge School boardwalk needs an NOI, but we can apply for a permit, which Mal will head
up. The work will be done as an Eagle Scout project. Mike has required maps and supporting
materials.
• Lot 1/DCR project will need a wetland survey. Not sure where funds will come from - Mike
may know someone who can do the work pro bono. Mike & Keith are meeting with the
Brookhaven Nature Trail committee next week, to see if they can/want to help. An informal
hearing with Conservation Commission will be the next step.
• The Hayden Woods boardwalk project is moving along, and is into the logistics stage. It may
be somewhat complicated by the fact that major construction will be happening at the Hay-
den Ave trailhead, but the developer has agreed to accommodate the trail work. It is hoped
that this project will be complete by the end of 2018.
• The brochure is on track to be updated and printed by Patriots' Day. Mike has the map
nearly done, and Ruth and Laurel are working on the design and editing. The only hangup is
that we don't have a new photo, and it isn't a great season for getting a new one.
Current Business:
• Route J was discussed. It seems that it would be better not to try to cross Wilson Farm prop-
erty, as there are too many potential pitfalls. We will use Oak St to get from Mass Ave to
West Farm. Mike has three route options that he will send around for comments. Keith will
contact Carol Kowalski to find out the availability of Dana Ct easement.
New Business:
• The Pelham Rd trail connections will be tricky because of wetland issues, but it should be
