34() <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />January 4, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Bird <br />Room, Cary Memorial Building, on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Chairman <br />Cataldo, Messrs. Mabee, Kenney, Greeley and Bailey were present. Mr. <br />Legre, Town Counsel; Mr. O'Connell, Town Manager; Mr.McSweeney, Town <br />Engineer and Acting Superintendent of Public Works and Mrs. McCurdy, <br />Executive Clerk,',:were also present. <br />Jurors At the request of the Town Clerk, four jurors were drawn as <br />fol lows: <br />Harold W. Eklund <br />David M. Hamblin <br />William R. Page <br />William K. Brown <br />24 Preston Road <br />7 Winston Road <br />25 Oakland Street <br />127 Bedford Street <br />Mr. O'Connell informed the Board that the Town Engineer has <br />written him reporting that he has signed the offer and acceptance <br />form on the State and Federal grants en the Hamilton Road relief <br />sewer. The grant offers an estimate of $597,000; on the basis of <br />that estimated cost, which is subject to change, the Federal grant <br />offers $298,500 and the State offers $149,250, leaving the appli- <br />cants' share, Lexington and Bedford, of $149,250. On December 30, <br />Hamilton 1970, we received preliminary plans and specifications on Contract <br />Relief No. 1 and we are presently completing the second stage. <br />Sewer The Chairman said that a letter from the State was received <br />today. <br />Mr. O'Connell recemmended that the awarding authority set a <br />date to advertise the bids as soon as possible. Also, you will <br />note an additional 1Q percent will be granted by the Housing and <br />Urban Development, which will add $29,850. This leaves only the <br />date to authorize the bids. <br />The Chairman said that we have applied for a HUD grant and we <br />are not sure of it; we have a commitment on the others. We will <br />discuss this whole issue later on. <br />The Chairman read a'letter from Mrs. George Laurendeau, 33 <br />Bellflower Street, requesting that Crosby Road be made one-way <br />Traffic during the hours when children are brought and picked up at the <br />Request Maria Hastings School. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to refer <br />this request to the Traffic Committee for recommendations. <br />Common Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to sign the <br />Vict. Common Victualler licenses for the following: (approved by the <br />License Board of Health.) <br />
