Osborne, Chair t1imnariri ), <br /> Fuang-Ying Huang,Vice Chair <br /> Tanya Gisolfi, Clerk <br /> Minutes for December 1, 2018 Meeting <br /> Present: <br /> • Members: Lieutenant James Barry, Bonnie Brodner, Fuang-Ying Huang, Sean Osborne, <br /> Charlotte Rodgers <br /> • Liaisons: Doug Lucente (BOS), Pastor Brent Maracle (LICA), Mona Roy (SEPCA & <br /> LexDes]), Stanley Yap (CAAL), Deb Zucker (LexPride) <br /> • Guests: Mabel Amar, Valerie Overton <br /> Meeting called to order at 8:07 AM, Quorum was present at 8:10 AM. <br /> Chair Report—no emalls received in last month. A YouTube video of LICA reading of our Inclusion <br /> Proclamation was sent to the group and appreciated. <br /> Minutes from November 3, 2017 meeting were reviewed with no amendments. Ms. Rodgers moved <br /> the minutes be accepted, Lt. Barry seconded the motion. It was passed 4,0,1 (Ms. Brodner abstained) <br /> LPS Student Discipline Survey—The School Committee unanimously approved the goals set forth for <br /> the survey. These goals were developed by the with the Joint LHRC-Commission on Disability <br /> discipline survey working group. Subsequent to that the LPS Administration Council sent a letter to the <br /> LHRC stating concerns about and objections to the survey. There were some members of the LPS <br /> staff who were interested in attending future meetings with the Joint LHRC-Commission on Disability <br /> discipline survey working group but were told by administration they were not currently allowed to <br /> attend. It is not clear if LPS will ultimately be involved in the survey moving forward, although the <br /> hope is that they will be. <br /> Community Conversation on Race—The event will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, <br /> Monday, January 15, 2018 at Grace Chapel from 9— 10:30 AM. Daniel J. Losen is the invited keynote <br /> speaker and Faye Backert is the moderator. The working group for this event will begin meeting on <br /> Wednesdays starting on December 6, 2017. <br /> Community Conversation on Immigration—This event will take place on Sunday, February 25, <br /> location TBD. <br /> The Advisory Board Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 20 has been cancelled. <br /> Departmental Reports and Updates—Ms. Rodgers brought up the "Not In Our Town" initiative, where <br /> the mission is "Working together for a safe and inclusive community". She and Lt. Barry may start a <br /> new working group after our next meeting to thoroughly vet the organization and come up with <br /> 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE-LEXINGTON,MASSACHUSETTS 02420 <br />
