SELECTMEN'S MEET Ilkn <br />January 3, 1966 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, on <br />Monday, January 3, 1966, at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Cole, <br />Messrs. Burnell, Cataldo, Sheldon and Mabee were present. <br />Mr. Legro, Town Counsel, Mr. Gray, ExecutiveAssistant, <br />Mr. Carroll, Superintendent of Public Works, and Miss <br />Murray, Executive Clerk, were also present. <br />The Chairman, with referenne to the minutes of the <br />Board meeting on December 27, 1965, said the Board would <br />recall that Mrs. Battin and Mr. Baylies were in relative <br />to the Town Report. He said some things did not get <br />into the minutes that they intended to have in. He read <br />the following statement which was prepared by Mrs. Battin: <br />"The Selectmen had no objection to a By -Law which would <br />stipulate the time by which the finance committee report <br />should be available before annual and special town meetings <br />Further, such reports should be in writing to Town Meeting <br />Members before special as well as annual town meetings. <br />The warrant committee suggested as dates either five or <br />seven days before the annual business meeting and three <br />days before special town meetings. They also mentioned <br />the value to the citizens of newspaper publication of the <br />report before special town meetings." <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted <br />to include the statement, as read, in the minutes of <br />the Selectmen's Meeting held on December 27, 1965. <br />The Chairman said, to correct the motion as it now <br />appears, contains the time of 7.30 A.M. His statement <br />was in reference to the property at 572 Massachusetts <br />Avenue discussed by the Board at its meeting on December 20 <br />1965. He said he recalled that was the original motion, <br />but he called attention to the fact that there would be <br />no one available. <br />Mr. Sheldon said Mr. Cataldo made the motion. <br />Mr. Cataldo said that was his original motion. <br />Mr. Burnell stated, as he recalled it, there was no <br />time specified. <br />Mr. Sheldon explained that, at the time, he did <br />not realize he was voting for 7:30 A.M. <br />The Chairman said 7:30 A.M. was mentioned. <br />Mr. Burnell said his recollection was that it was <br />a facetious remark. <br />467 <br />Minutes <br />• <br />Motion <br />#572 Mass. <br />Avenue <br />
