BOARD OF APPEALS
October 18, 1979
' 8:00 P.M.
The Board of Appeals met at the call of the Chairman, Ruth Morey, in the
Selectmen's Meeting Room.
Present: Ruth Morey, Chairman
Woodruff M. Brodhead
Irving H. Mabee
Natalie H. Riffin
Robert V. Whitman, Associate
The Board reconvened to resume deliberation of the Mystic Valley Mental Health
petitions for
186 Bedford St. - for a special permit to add a second story for additional office
space and a special permit for a standing sign. Parties in interest were notified
of the continued hearing which had begun on September 27.
Chronology of Events since 9/27/79 re. 186 Bedford St.
A plan had been submitted to the chairman, identifying land areas that could
provide additional parking spaces and including buffer strips of evergreen shrubs
or stockade fence, either of which would be a shield to the residential abutters.
10/4/79 - A letter had been received from the Planning Board, who had continued to
review the petition and information presented at the hearing and offered further
advice.
10/16/79 - Petitioner, by letter to the Chairman from Gerald S. Harris, President
of Mystic Valley Mental Health, asked to withdraw without prejudice the petition
for alterations and re -building of their current structure on Bedford St. in
Lexington. Letter stated, "After having reviewed our own situation in detail we
find that our petition is perhaps premature. We should like to re -think it and
re -submit it at a,later date more appropriately refined."
10/18/79 - Mr. Wright, representing Mystic Valley Mental Health Association, asked
if it was possible for the Board to consider the much needed sign inasmuch as the
letter of withdrawal did not include the petition for the sign.
Decision filed with the Town Clerk.
186 Bedford St. - granted unanimously the request to withdraw petition for altera-
tions and re -building of the current structure on Bedford St. without prejudice.
- granted unanimously the request for a standing sign.
The meeting adjourned at 9:02 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
1 , (fotc—
Evelyn F.
