BOARD OF APPEALS July 28, 1977 ' The Board of Appeals held a regular meeting on Thursday, July 28, 1977, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Present: George P. Wadsworth, Chairman Ruth Morey Irving H. Mabee Thomas G. Taylor Natalie H. Riffin, Associate Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notices of the hear- ings having been mailed and hearings advertised in the Lexington Minute -Man newspaper as required by statute. Clementine C. McKeon, M.D. and Ruth E. Turner - special permit, pursuant to Section 30.3,to add a porch to an existing house at 11 Bedford Street, which porch will be 11'6"+ from the rear lot line instead of the required 15'. Guy J. Ferrera - variance of Section 27 of the Lexington Zoning By-law to build a garage, attached to the existing house at 3 Winn Avenue, which garage will have a side yard of 4.5 ft. instead of the required 10 ft. James M. Gaffney - variance of Section 27 of the Lexington Zoning By-law to build a pool on the property at 23 Rawson Avenue. The pool will have a 12' ' setback from Rawson Avenue instead of the required 30'. Honeywell, Inc. - special permit, pursuant to Sections 13 and 25 and other applicable sections of the zoning by-law, to allow for the construction of an addition to the building occupied by petitioner at 3 Forbes Road; the addition will be 200 feet by 200 feet and shall have two floors in acco-rdance with plans submitted to the Board of Appeals. A finding and determination is requested that the addition will constitute a suitable development and will not result in substantial detriment to the neighborhood. The proposed addition will be used for research and development purposes. The petitioner presently leases the property upon which the addition is to be constructed. DECISIONS: The Board made the following decisions, all in open meeting. See decisions for details, all in Board of Appeals' files and also filed with the Town Clerk. McKeon and Turner - granted unanimously, subject to certain conditions. Ferrera - denied unanimously. Gaffney - granted unanimously, subject to certain conditions. Honeywell - granted unanimously, subject to certain conditions. All the above decisions were made by polling the Board instead of going through the process of making a motion to grant the petition with a motion to second it before counting the votes. The process of a motion and second often ' necessitated someone superficially seconding a motion that the someone was not in favor of, merely to get the motion on the floor.
