BOARD OF APPEALS
June 6, 1977
The Board of Appeals held a work -session for the purpose of discussing
various proposed zoning amendments to the Lexington Zoning By-laws. The
meeting was held in Room G5, Town Office Building beginning at 8 p.m.
Notice was posted with the Town Clerk on May 31, 1977.
Present: George P. Wadsworth, Chairman
Ruth Morey, Vice Chairman
Woodruff M. Brodhead
Thomas G. Taylor
Haskell W. Reed, Associate
A. Lee Whitman, Associate
Clarence'Turner
Discussion brought forth several problems which constantly face the Board.
Sections 25 (Use Regulations Schedule) and Section 30 (Non -Conforming Uses) are
unclear as currently worded, resulting in differences of opinions as to inter-
pretations by Board of Appeals, Building and Inspection Departments, and the
Planning Board.
The continuing problem of enforcement of conditions imposed by the Board
of Appeals when granting certain permits was also discussed.
' It was acknowledged that Chapter 808, the State's new Zoning Act, may
introduce other new phases of zoning for consideration. The Town must accept
Chapter 808 and make its zoning by-laws conform to same by June 1978. It is
anticipated that the Planning Board has thoughts of broadening its powers under
this act.
No formal action was taken at this meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Evelyn F. Cole
Administrative Clerk
BOARD OF APPEALS
