BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS
' September 4, 1973
A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday,
September 4, 1973 at 7:30 p.m. in Room G 15 of the Town Office Building.
Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members, G. Sheldon, R. Morey, W.
Brodhead and G. Wadsworth, a Minute -man Publications' reporter and an audi-
ence of townspeople.
Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notice having been
mailed to the petitioners, to the owners of all property deemed by the Board
to be affected thereby as they appear on the most recent local tax list, to
town boards and officials who will or might be affected by decisions made, and
also advertised in the Lexington Minute -man.
Kenneth S. Schneider and Diane E. Schneider - variance to maintain an exist-
ing carport attached to the dwelling at 17 Westwood Road, which has a side
yard of approximately 18'6" instead of the required 20' abutting on Mill Brook
Rd.
Amalia G. Samoylenko, Trustee (The Lexington Mews) - special permit for a free
standing sign at the Lexington Mews, 10-12 Muzzey Street. The purpose of this
sign is to serve as identification for tenants who occupy second floor and
basement space. Retail tenants whose stores front the municipal parking lot
feel that identification from Muzzey St. is necessary to direct customers
through the Muzzey St. entrance to their stores located at the other end of
the building. These aims cannot be accomplished due to the lack of free sign
space on the face of the building. We feel that a standing sign as proposed
will be an asset to the public since it will be easily seen and read by people
coming from either end of Muzzey St., therefore serving public convenience.
Steve's House of Pizza, Grigorios Lolis - a special permit under Section 25.69
of the Lexington Zoning By -Law to operate a pizza house at 333 Woburn Street.
This property is under a lease agreement.
Chandler Leasing Division, Pepsico Leasing Corporation - special permit to
erect one free standing, illuminated sign 3' x 10' double-faced bearing the
company name, Chandler Leasing, PepsiCo Leasing Corp. to be located in front
of the building at 101 Hartwell Avenue.
Following the hearings the Board made the following decisions, all in
public meeting:
Schneider - Granted, unanimously.
Lexington Mews - Granted, 4 to 1, the chairman voting in opposition.
Steve's House of Pizza - Denied, 2 to 3. Mr. Sheldon and Mr. Nickerson voting
in favor, tither members in opposition to the petition.
Chandler Leasing - Granted, unanimously.
All pertinent material is on file under the name of each petitioner in the
Board of Appeal's office. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
Evelyn F. Cole
Clerk
