BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS <br />May 23, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, <br />May 23, 1972 at 7:30 p.m. in the selectmen's meeting room of the town office <br />building. Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members Dawes, Sheldon <br />and Wadsworth and associate member Haskell W. Reed. <br />Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notice having been <br />mailed to the petitioners, to the owners of all property deemed by the Board <br />to be affected thereby as they appear on the most recent local tax list, to <br />town boards who will or might be affected by decisions made, and also adver- <br />tised in the Lexington Minute -man: <br />Robert J. Neal - special permission under zoning by-law, section 25, subsec- <br />tion 25.94, for use of temporary structure, box trailer, for storage on prop- <br />erty at 421 Lowell Street (CC -business zone), not to exceed 6 months from <br />date of granting of special permit. "I am in the process of making plans to <br />erect a permanent structure at the above property as soon as bank gives me <br />the approval. I have the plans (rough drawings)of what I plan to do. Also, <br />I have moved the trailer to a location on the property where it is not <br />noticeable." <br />Victoria N. O'Connell - variance of the Lexington zoning by-laws to allow the <br />subdivision of a parcel of land numbered 11 Lowell Street, Lexington, Mass., <br />into two separate lots shown as Lot A and Lot B on a plan entitled "Plot Plan <br />of Land in Lexington, Massachusetts," dated March 21, 1972, Albert A. Miller <br />and Wilbur C. Nylander, Civil Engineers and Surveyors, on file in the office <br />of the Lexington Board of Appeals, such Lot B having an area of 18,500 square <br />feet of land and a frontage on Lowell Street of 86 feet and a frontage on <br />Westminster Avenue of 113 feet, and such Lot A having an area of 10,000 <br />square feet of land and a frontage on Lowell Street of 120 feet and a front- <br />age on Westminster Avenue of 64 feet, and to maintain the existing dwelling <br />on Lot B and to erect a single family dwelling on Lot A after the existing <br />barn on Lot A is removed. <br />H. Stuart and Elizabeth H. Muench - variance of the Lexington zoning by-law <br />in order to build a garage with a basement under on the property located at <br />24 Dewey Road which will be set back 20 ft. from the road instead of the <br />required 30 ft. to enable us to have a reasonably level driveway. There is <br />presently a purchase and sales agreement between the present owners Gerald <br />and Margaret Shirley and ourselves. Final papers will be passed May 15th. <br />Varian Associates - a finding and determination that the proposed construction <br />of a building to house offices, research laboratory, and light manufacturing <br />facilities for high vacuum equipment on property on 121 Hartwell Avenue, con- <br />stitutes a suitable development and will not result in substantial detriment <br />to the neighborhood, and the issuance of a special permit, all in accordance <br />with the provisions of Sections 13 and 25 of the Lexington Zoning By -Law, and <br />a variance of Article X, Area Limitations Within Building, Building and Sign <br />By -Laws of the Town of Lexington dated 1958. No application for a sign is <br />included in this petition. The petitioner, Varian Associates, is the buyer <br />named in a purchase and sale agreement covering the premises. <br />
