BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS <br />' October 5, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on <br />Tuesday, October 5, 1971 at 7:30 p.m. in the selectmen's meeting room, <br />The Bird Room, Cary Memorial Building. Present were Vice Chairman <br />Abbott who presided over these hearings, regular members Sheldon and <br />Wadsworth, and associate members Brodhead and Mabee. <br />Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notice <br />having been mailed to the petitioners and to the owners of all property <br />deemed by the Board to be affected thereby as they appear on the most <br />recent local tax list and also advertised in the Lexington Minute -man: <br />Donald L. and Diana Gayle Lumsden - for a variance of the Zoning <br />By -Law to maintain the existing dwelling at 6 Lawrence Lane with 27' <br />frontage setback instead of the required 30'. <br />Francis and Marion B. Napoli - to vary the By -Law to permit sub- <br />division of the parcel of land numbered 10 North Hancock Street, the <br />major portion of which is in an RS -one family dwelling district and the <br />remainder of which is in a CN -neighborhood business district, by remov- <br />ing therefrom the portion that is in the CN district, and adding it to <br />the adjoining parcel numbered 6 North Hancock Street which is in the <br />same CN district, and to permit the portion of the land numbered 10 <br />North Hancock Street that is in the RS district with insufficient side <br />yard, frontage and area to be maintained as a legal lot. <br />Edward T. Donahue, 1531 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington - to vary <br />the Lexington Sign By -Law to allow an existing free standing sign, <br />purported to be in Lexington, to remain at its present location, immedi- <br />ately adjacent to 7 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington. <br />Old Lexington Restaurant, Inc. - to vary the Sign By -Law to allow <br />two signs on the front of the building at 1733 Massachusetts Avenue. <br />Supreme Council, 33- Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry <br />and Scottish Rite Masonic Library and Museum, Inc. - permission to <br />erect new facilities at 1162 Massachusetts Avenue, to house and expand <br />the present Library and Museum now located in the building known as <br />39 Marrett Road and also to build a new facility to include an auditorium <br />to seat 400 people substantially in accordance with plans submitted. <br />Following the hearings the Board made the following decisions: <br />Donald L. and Diana Gayle Lumsden - unanimously granted, so far as <br />may be necessary to permit the existing dwelling to be maintained at 6 <br />Lawrence Lane with frontage setback of 27' instead of the required 30'. <br />Francis and Marion B. Napoli - unanimously granted, so far as may be <br />necessary to subdivide the parcel of land at 10 North Street, creating an <br />area of 3,904 square feet to be added to the parcel at 6 North Hancock <br />Street, leaving the land at 10 North Hancock Street with insufficient <br />side yard, frontage and area to be maintained as a legal lot. <br />
