BOARD OF APPEALS HEARTNGS <br />A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, <br />I <br />March 23, 1971 at 7:30 p.m. in the selectmen's meeting room, The Bird Room, <br />Cary Memorial Building. Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members <br />Dawes, Sheldon, Abbott and Wadsworth. <br />The following petitions were heard: <br />Mrs. Charles R. Gredler - permission to operate a reading school for <br />5k and 6k year olds in two rooms of her home at 119 Burlington Street. <br />Norman I. Sebell - variance on the property located at 100 Burlington <br />Street to permit the construction of an "in ground) swimming pool within <br />five feet of the rear property line instead of the required 15 feet. <br />Lexington Gardens Inc. - permission to replace a plastic greenhouse <br />with a glass greenhouse, 31 ft. x 258 ft with a 29 ft. x 75 ft. jog and <br />to construct a new steel and glass greenhouse, 31 ft. x 275 ft. on the <br />premises at 93 Hancock Street. <br />Arthur Gaklis - permission to have hours of the nursery at 1265 <br />Massachusetts Avenue open to the public during the spring selling season <br />(April, May and June) until 9:00 p.m. weekdays and until 6:00 p.m. on <br />Saturdays and Sundays and permission to use a 8' x 6' portable cashiers <br />booth outside in the sales yard during the same spring selling season. <br />Lexington Housing Authority - finding and determination that the <br />5 -acre proposed state -aided garden apartment housing for the elderly project <br />located in an RM - multi -family dwelling district off Waltham Street between <br />Vine Brook Road, Sherburne Road and Winthrop Road and to be known as Vine - <br />brook Village constitutes a suitable development not detrimental to the <br />neighborhood and the Town; the number of paved parking spaces to be at least <br />25 with space for 24 non-developed parking spaces within the project and <br />permission to vary the Building By -Law of the Town of Lexington so as to <br />allow for frame construction for the proposed state -aided housing for the <br />elderly project described above and permission to vary the Zoning By -Law <br />so as ;to allow 12 dwelling units in each of the buildings comprising the <br />above project and permission to vary the Zoning By -Law so as to allow a <br />45 foot frontage on Waltham Street to provide access to the proposed state - <br />aided housing for the elderly project. <br />Following the hearings, an executive session was held during which the <br />following decisions were reached: <br />Mrs. Charles R. Gredler - granted with conditions listed on permit. <br />Norman I. Sebell - denied. <br />Lexington Gardens Inc. - granted with conditions. <br />Arthur Gaklis - decision postponed until a later date. (Granted -8 p.m. -April 13) <br />Lexington Housing Authority - decision postponed until a later date.
