r -
MEMO - November 22,1965
Mr. Nickerson, chairman of the Board of Appeals, upon request
of the members of the Board met with Mr. and Mrs. John Millican and
their son Harold in the Board of Appeals office on Monday, November
22, 1965 at 8:30 a.m.
Mr. Nickerson read the Article on Nurseries as proposed to be
presented at the annual town meeting in March 1966 by the Planning
Board. The Millicans objected to this definition stating that if en-
forced it would put them out of business. They say there should be
another article describing "Garden Centers" which is a more or less
recent development and encompasses a large amount of business over
the nation. Mr. Millican also stated that there were now three Garden
Centers in Lexington and that the others would also be out of order if
he was.
Mr. Nickerson again read the Article and requested the secre-
tary to send a copy to the Millicans for their study. Harold read a
letter received by the Millicans from Thurston Handley of the Middlesex
Co. Dept. of Agriculture commending them on their operation. Mr.
Nickerson again stressed the fact that the zoning by-laws are to be
obeyed and requested that they please be in conformity when they again
appear for their Permit next Fall, whereupon the Millicans left at
8:50 a.m.
7 /
Clerk
