Glynn,
Kimball and Ferguson were present. The Acting Secretary,
Elinor 17"oakley was also present. In the absence of r'r.
Lladdison, Mr. Flynn acted as Chairman, and IYTr. Kimball acted
as Clerk in the absence of I;Ir. Robbins.
The records of the meeting of October 29th were read
and approved.
At 8:15 P. M. hearing was declared open on the appl_-
cation of 3:Iinnie 111. Ryder for permission_ to maintain a riding
se'r ool at 24 I,taple Street, Lexington.
Ir. Kimball read the notice of the hearing.
There were seven persons present.
I:r. Philip D. Clark, agent for C. 'l. RTrder, stated that
the persons who rent the house at 24 L anile Street would like
to have a permit to rent horses. He stated that there have
been horses kept in the barn on the premises always, and t-ese
' boys would like to maintain a ridinv school there now. He
stated that the horses would be ridden_ almost entirely on the
premises as there are several roads cut through in back of the
premises, which consists of arproximately 150 acres. I1r.
Darker, the tenant in the house at 24 Maple Street, is going
to run the school.
Iir, Glynn asked 1r. Barker how many horses he intended
to keep, and I,1r. Darker stated that he would not keep over
seven or eight at the most. Ir=r. Glynn asked him if there
vias ample parking space on the premises so that cars would not
be parked on the street, and he answered in the affirmative.
No other persons appeared in favor of granting the
application.
Ir Lo. Geor=qe L. TIam of 30 I:iaple Street stated ';'rlat he was
a little reluctant to appear at the hearing in oppos_tion to
the granting of this permit, but stated that he was the
closest nei '_lbor ?.tra Tr13 vpl:osed to 1 _V c'an e in the zone.
He stated that he did not have any objection as far as the
riding school itself was concerned, but he was afraid of what
it might lead to. Yr. Ham said he was fearful that if this
permit were granted, it might lead to something such as the
pony, riding school which is operated on 'lloburn Street. He
felt that this would be very objectionable to the neighborhood
and a detriment to the property in that vicinity. He stated
th-t if there could be some restrictions put on a permit for
a riding school such as has been applied for, he vrould have
no objection to it.
