• <br />• <br />• <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />March 3, 1942 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on <br />Tuesday evening, March 3, 1942. The meeting was held <br />on Tuesday because of the election being on Monday. <br />Messrs. Giroux, Sarano, and Locke were present. The <br />Clerk was also present. <br />The Town Clerk appeared before the Board at 7:30 <br />P.M. and administered the oath of office to Messrs. <br />Sarano and Locke who were re-elected.as Selectmen <br />yesterday. <br />There being no Chairman, the Clerk of the Board <br />acted as Chairman pro -tem. Upon motion of Mr. Sarano, <br />seconded by Mr. Locke, it was voted to elect Archibald <br />R. Giroux as Chairman of the Board for the ensuing <br />year. <br />The Chairman pro -tem read a letter from Mr. William <br />G. Potter stating that he wished his vote cast for Mr. <br />Giroux as Chairman, and Mr. Sarano informed the Board <br />that Mr. Rowse told him that he wished to be recorded <br />in favor of the election of Mr. Giroux as Chairman. <br />The meeting was then turned over to Mr. Giroux. <br />Mr. Carroll said that it was necessary to draw a <br />juror to serve on Criminal Business at Cambridge, <br />Second Session, beginning April 6, 1942. Mr. William <br />A. Moore, general manager, of 52 Hancock Street was the <br />juror drawn. <br />Mr. Carroll retired at 7:32 P.M. <br />The Clerk informed the Board that the Lexington <br />Committee on Public Safety had applied for the use of <br />Estabrook Hall on the third Wednesday of ebery month <br />for meetings. <br />Mr. Sarano moved that the use of the hall be <br />granted free of charge. Mr. Locke seconded the motion, <br />and it was so voted. <br />The Clerk informed the Board that Mr. Paxton had <br />obtained bids from three companies on a meter testing <br />machine. The bids were received from The Neptune Meter <br />Company, The Pittsburgh Equitable Company, and the Ford <br />Meter Box Company. Mr. Paxton recommended that the <br />equipment be purchased from the Neptune Meter Company <br />at their bid of $250.00. The expense will be charged <br />to the Water Maintenance Account.
