154 <br />SELECTMEN?S 14EETING <br />JAN. 3rd, 1938. <br />A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, at 7:30 P.M. <br />Acting Chairman Giroux, Messrs. Ross, Clark and Potter <br />were present at the meeting. The Clerk was also present. <br />Messrs. Bidwell, George Smith, Sarano, Adams, James, <br />Eldridge and Hoyt representing the Executive Committee of <br />the Town LIeeting 14,embers+ Association were also present. <br />The following budgets were discussed: <br />Posture Clinic:- 4-700.00. Same as last year. No questions. <br />Sealer of Weights and Measures:- ;550.00. The Clerk ex- <br />p a ned that this was an error and that this budget should <br />amount to $600.00 because of the fact that the Sealer's <br />salary was increased to x'500.00 per year last year. No <br />questions. <br />Board of Appeals:- $200.00. <br />Plumbin's Ins ector:- Salary, <br />xpeE-nsess, �,8b an increase <br />Inspector is asking for a car <br />reduced the office expenses by <br />Same as last year. No questions. <br />0800.00 same as last year. <br />of 4{;35.00 over 19.37. The <br />allowance of 4$60.00 and has <br />4x25.00. <br />Building, Inspector:- ;1220.00. Practically no change. <br />Dental Clinic:- $1850.00. Same as last year. <br />Assessors:- 16631.00. <br />Chairman Steeves and Messrs. Cann, Shanahan and <br />Burnham appeared before the Board. Mr. Steeves said that <br />the Assistant Assessor and the Clerk were the only ones in <br />the Town Offices that did not have their salaries restored <br />and the Assessors felt that they should have been restored. <br />They have therefor provided for the restoration'of these <br />salaries as of January lst, 1938. They are asking for a <br />salary of $2800.00 for the Assistant Assessor, plus the sum <br />of $175.00 for the use of his car. The sum of kQ1456.00 is <br />requested for the salary of the Clerk, which provides for <br />an increase of 4x',4.00 from 424.00 to $28.00 per week. The <br />item for printing and advertising was reduced from $250.00 <br />to $175.00. The sum of 075.00 was asked for `automobile <br />allowance for the Assessors themselves; $25.00 was asked <br />for gasoline and oil for use of Assistant Assessors in <br />listing polls; and 4;175.00 for car allowance for the <br />Assistant Assessor. The matter of salaries was not <br />quite clear in the minds of some of the members, so Mr. <br />Spencer was requested to explain it. He said that in 1932 <br />PC <br />
